They claim that they are working on it and the 'wiki' will be re-introduced when it has been configured for the new format. So whether that will happen or what they will do to it is anyone's guess. However, if you have a look at post #40 here https://rangerovers.pub/topic/1453?page=2

So far I believe they're saying that it wasn't possible to keep it all but it's still there somewhere. They plan to bring it back in a future update but aren't saying when. They're planning weekly updates.

Ridiculous to delete forum content to 'upgrade' software. A forum is it's content, no use without the content regardless of how pretty it looks.
Could this be a temporary situation with intention of restoring old content to the new software (perhaps when they have sussed how to do it)?

When it seemed LPGforum could be taken down at any time with the possibility of all that content being lost I asked my son to come up with a way of downloading every thread completely and he managed it... Not needed now as LPGforum has been saved but I still have all that data backed up and I'm sure we'd have come up with a way of including that content in a new forum if LPGforum had disappeared. We didn't/couldn't download user accounts, an implication of that being that the old content would have to be available on the new forum just as some sort of archive, but we'd have done all we could to make the archive searchable.

Edit - Hehe I started writing this post just before a customer turned up, finished writing after the customer left... Probably a bit out of touch in the light of recent posts it crossed with.

The really old stuff on LPGforum (alot of which is probably irrelevant now) isn't generally accessible - Mods can see the archive section, but not normal users (I think). Thats due to software though, as the whole archive section has broken formatting, making it very difficult to actually read most of the content as its mixed up with various codes <br> appears alot in it. Its usually a problem going major version upgrades (ie letting lots of upgrades get missed then trying to jump several versions at once)

I've never been a frequent poster, but rangerovers.net has helped me over the years with plenty of guidance. Someone said these vehicles are now 'hobby cars'. I just keep telling myself that as I nurse my one owner '96 4.0 along.

Less of the Richard_G please, I only ever used that on RR.net as they banned Gilbertd for life.....

I suppose they are hobby cars in a way, you ideally need to be able to work on them yourself and keep on top of things. Then they become less of a hobby and more of a car you can use. I certainly use mine, everyday car (just got back from doing the weekly food shop) and it's been to Latvia and the south of France and back in the last couple of months too. My MoT (the annual safety test we have in the UK) is due at the end of the month so I had a good look around it last weekend. I've got a rear axle oil seal to replace but that was all I could find. Not bad for a 4.0 litre with 380,800 miles on the clock.

Even though they made me a moderator and I've been pretty active over on the dark side recently, I'm getting more and more pissed off with some of the new members on there with their stupid questions and almost total lack of understanding. So I've invited a few of the more practical, UK based, members over to here. A couple have joined up already, so welcome to them. You never know, we may even get a couple more at the post apocalyptic summer camp.......

Agreed re RR.net. I'm not sure if it's worse to have users who can't use search asking the same qns once a week, or ones who drag up long dead threads.

It's Gordon you need to thank for setting it up, but the rest of us for contributing. For months now RR.net has been propped up by Rob, me and no more than half a dozen others and it's got even more US biased than it ever used to be. This place is a bit different, think of it as a virtual pub, come in, sit down, ask a question or just join in a chat. The other bonus is we've got things like the summer camps being organised. Marty, who knows more about the electronics side of things than the guy that designed it, has a workshop that he rents. We've had a few weekends where a group have gone there and tackled the jobs that people either didn't feel confident in doing or their own or didn't have the tools to do them. We had a mass headlining session one time where we did 7 and a radius arm bush replacing weekend where at the same time a few heater core O rings were changed along with the odd blend motor. If everyone mucks in, it's easy and Morat is a dab hand with the barbecue to keep everyone fed.

that sounds like a great idea. I did think the other site was slowing up a bit.
I do admit i enjoyed doing to o rings.
It's nice to look over other peoples P38s and get hints and tips.

A man after my own heart, I don't have a problem with O rings. OK, it's a bit fiddly and kneeling on the ground with your head in the footwell can get a bit uncomfortable after a while, but it isn't difficult. I've done at least 8 sets and only had a problem getting the screw out on two of them, but was able to drill the head off in both cases.

RR.net seems to be getting worse. There's two threads where I started off trying to be helpful but what's the point in giving advice when people seem to completely ignore it?

Well i am a plumber, have a box of o rings, I understand its frustrating when you try to help people and you get no feedback. but you are a godsend in my eyes. Keep calm and carry on the good work.

When I started looking at P38s, I started also looking at forum to see the various stories and issues, and solutions.
Most of the info is very old in most cases, in some places which go back many years.
When I browse around in English, I've found aulro.com to be very informative and balanced, and pleasant. I went through ALL the pages of their P38 section .... (this is something I usually do with every vehicle I own!)
When I went to landyzone or rr.net I've noticed a distinct different vibe ... I actually went through a few pages and never bother with the rest. Bad attitude ... some guys in LZ would not even want to meet :-/
For rr.net, nevermind (with all due respect) US-based forum have next to nil usefulness to anyone living outside their world, for various reasons.
I don't recall the site, but the French have a very complete and well-behaved forum. Only in French (of course!) and you need to go through a translator through it.

But the pub ... this is the most cozy place I have ever been, and I've been in forums for +15 years and easily maybe over 30K posts.
Amazing vibes in here, no trolling, no flaming, and especially when dealing with a vehicle 99% of the motoring world (knowledgeable and not) considers utter crap, and a lost cause.
