How close should the live heights be in relation to the target heights? I was looking at the EAS heights last night and two of my sensors were about 3 points from the target height and the other two were around 15 points from the target value. I calibrated the suspension with some blocks I made up a few months ago so I'm confident the stored heights are correct.

I was looking at the heights with the car stopped, doors closed and foot off the brake so I can't understand why it wouldn't be attempting to achieve the target heights? Is anyone else's like this?

There's a bit of hysteresis in the system so it doesn't constantly jiggle up and down trying to get to the exact value.

Did you calibrate the heights on a dead level surface ? are ride height sensors free and not sticking at all ?
Had the same issues a few times I always follow this

Get the car on a level ramp, place a spirit level the front cross beam to be exact and while you are under there check all 4 ride height sensors are free from any dirt grit and clean as required a bit of silicone lube on rubbers frees em off and look inside the shied as it holds mud !

take the original heights write them down

Blocks in and drop on low read the heights and write them down

take her up and write these new heights in to the memory and confirm.

Drop her down and up again and re-read the heights and they should be the same as you wrote.

Do not worry if the written height are out by say 10 or 5 or whatever this is normal ie you would nearly never be so lucky to have 75 FL and 75 FR there is always a difference.

Hope this helps but remember always double check the heights after you have adhusted

2 or 3 points out is quite normal but 15 seems quite a bit out and I would have expected it to correct for that. The car does have to be sitting perfectly level though.

I have as you can tell made the mistake of a non level surface.
Could be wiring to a sensor as well that has resistance through corrosion on one corner, if it is easy to check as it will be in the plug that gos to it or that part of the wire, sensors very rarely go wrong its normally the wiring.................it is a P38 after all !

Make sure your tyre pressures are correct as per book too!

I had another look at the values tonight, car was level and the values didn't seem to change much in the minute I spent looking at it. Looks better than last night but the rear right is fairly far out.

Your target heights look a bit odd, usually the front and rear are different but the difference side to side is very small, 131 to 109 seems a hell of a difference.

The front two sensors are fairly new too - around 2 months old. They were britpart though... The rear sensors are probably original.

I should probably say that there's nothing particularly wrong with my system. It works fine and never gives any faults. I do have two issues though. The first is that if I leave the car for a short amount of time and get back in when the car is restarted the air suspension will sometimes be down at access height and sometimes up at high ride height. I kind of assumed this would be due to dodgy height sensors. The car isn't dropping overnight so it's not a leak.

The second issue is the ride is fairly rough. Shocks are new boges but the ride is still terrible on anything but really smooth roads. RAVE says bad calibration can cause this so I further suspected the height sensors.

I've bought a new pair of height sensors for the rear.

Took another look at the heights once I'd pulled into the driveway today since it was feeling high since I'd pulled into the street. The heights shown are pretty much high profile even though only the standard light was illuminated. I might try logging the heights with the nanocom on my way to work tomorrow.

Captured some data today with the Nanocom on my drive to work.

First thing I noticed is that in my 25 mile drive the compressor ran for 87% of the time which is obviously bad. The valve block was refurbed recently. On the motorway section the ride heights were fairly constant but before and after they look a bit erractic. I can possibly explain the start ones due to going over speed bumps but theres nothing at the end that is that rough.

I have a nanocom and have no idea how you produced these graphs? All mine will produce is raw data.

Ray- either with the Nanocom CSV Viewer (available as a download from BBS), or import the data into Excel or similar as a .csv file. You just have to parse it correctly.
That's assuming you've recorded the Nano data onto an SD card in the first place, of course.

I knew you could do it with engine parameters but never realised you could do the same with the EAS. I'll try it on mine this evening and see how it compares.

I recorded it to the SD card. I think you can record any of the screens with the little save symbol.

As Orangebean said BBS has a tool to view the data or you can just import it to excel. For some reason it's seperated by semi colons but you can still import to excel by opening a blank document. Then in the data menu there is an import from text wizard that will allow you to choose the delimiter.

I can record to the SD in the format of .csv but it would take hours to parse the info to excel. Sucked. Then actually making sense of the data would take another hour, This graph is cool because it gives the info instantly. I will check out the csv viewer you speak of.

This is mine, actual heights much closer to the target heights and that is sitting on my, flat(ish) driveway.

I tried to record the EAS during a journey but when I tried to copy it to the laptop it said it was corrupt and wouldn't copy it.

Did you stop the recording before switching off car?
If not, that's what normally generates corrupt file messages.

Errm , I think so but can't be sure. Seems Photobucket is playing up for me again as my picture was showing before but isn't for me now. Definitely need to find somewhere else to host pictures.

Pic showing for me! I use Photobucket for mine and don't seem to have any problems reported, although it's possible no-one looks at them :)
