I bought another P38 an old DSE it has an eas fault "naturally" and I can't seem to get the eas cable to connect.

No coms with one cable I have and on the other it won't select a comm port at all.

I recall vaguely having this issue with my V8 however I can't remember how I fixed it..

My laptop is a windows 10 unit if thats any use..

Cheers

You'll probably have to go into the port settings in Device Manager and set it to something sensible. Default will often be Com 13 or something stupid like that.

Nice to hear from you Henry.
FWIW, I also have the RSW software (not the free version) and it always worked, not quite flawlessly but i always got good readings. (Since getting the Nanocom I've never used RSW as the Nano is so much more user-friendly.)

If you have used Windows for a while since the serial cable worked, chances are Microsh!t over-wrote the driver.

Connect cable & uninstall whatever is in there. Then install the driver that came with the cable (ideally FTDI because windows 10 does not like the other versions. Then check the com port settings, and try again.

Is there a chance that someone has swapped the timer relay for a standard relay?
That would stop communication.

cheers all

I have found two broken wires one PURPLE/ORANGE that goes directly to the EAS ecu - it's gone green and broken,
And another PURPLE/ORANGE wire that is hanging from the bottom of the EAS delay relay, it's been cut or corroded off and I can't find where it connects to.

Any ideas chaps.

Purple/Orange comes from teh BeCM and goes to pin 34 of the EAS ECU and also to pin 5 on the delay timer relay.
