The only place for a coil spring is up Zebedee's arse

I'm knocking off jobs on the Borrego currently.
Did the u joints and new rotors and pads all around. Also new shoes for the parking brake.
Whilst lying comfortably under the beastie, I had to notice that there are lots of little cracks in the air bags.
Not leaking yet, but as I am going for reliability on this one, a set of quality Dunlop bags is in the near future.
It's currently on arnotts, so.......
Where's the best place to buy Dunlop bags lately?
Cheers!

Take your pick. I've included Craddocks as there was a shortage of fronts a couple of years ago when I needed a pair and they were the only place that had them in stock. Since then Dunlop have produced another batch for Britpart so although they come in Britpart boxes they are genuine Dunlop, Britpart are probably the only company big enough to have the buying power to get Dunlop to produce a new batch. Not a lot to choose on price between any of them.

Thanks Gilbert,
As far as you know,
Are any of these better than the others as far as shipping to the US?

I don't know, Island will do it and I believe LRDirect will as well, if either is better than the other though, I've no idea.

I used Island 4x4 to Canada for my air springs (a number of years ago now). That worked great. I also use LR Direct and have been happy with their service.

If you want genuine LR packaged air bags Rimmers are currently "out of stock, expected soon" but at over £500 each they unlikely to sell many.

Is it Arnott gen II or gen III that you are replacing?

Asking because it would be interesting to know if you feel any diffefence in handling.

I'll chime in with my Arnott (Gen 3) experience. They work as advertised, stiffer when lower (handles nicely on the road) and softer when raised (handles nicely off road). However, I had 2 springs fail catastrophically on 2 separate occasions (when extending to max extension they blew right apart, leaving me on the bump stops). Arnott's warranty was good and they replaced the spring each time, but I couldn't stand the chance of having another failure. Also their warranty is only 2 years if you are not in the USA.
I loved the way they handled and I wish I could have continued to trust them. I think that I've had Dunlop bags now for 6 years and haven't had any issues.

Also, if anyone wants my Arnott bags for cheap (I have less than 2 years on them), let me know (after my above review I don't think anyone will be interested though).

The photos make it look like they're genuine LR branded bags.

They aren't Dunlop and don't even look like they will fit a P38. The band at the top is similar to Arnotts (which I've always maintained is why they come apart at full extension due to them being at an angle and not straight), the top fitting is wrong too. Rear springs have a D shaped section that has a large R clip going through it not two pins. IIRC the rear springs on a Classic have two pins like that and front springs do but the top of them is completely different design.

The URL didn't work for me but if everything after the ? is deleted, it does. This https://www.ebay.com/itm/285495140785 is what a rear spring should look like.

Thanks Harv, I was also happy with the handling, but since I was replacing very worn originals, I wasn't sure what of it was only because they new vs. very worn.

I still have them (on my old, drowned, 2.5 dt) , but even if they have not been used for very long time, they have been standing outside all that time so I'm not sure it's a good idea to put them in my current one.

Might consider your offer, where in the world are you? (I've probably seen it sometimes but my memory is...)

You are entirely right, Gilbert!
Those are some odd looking ends there.
I was tired when I found them, so not being critical enough....
Looking at the offerings from your side of the ditch this morning.

Thanks 🙂

Shipping cost (to Iceland) is probably a bit high.

I liked the gen III's and even if the ones they are producing now might fail in extreme stretch, keeping a spare one to throw in ef needed is not a big problem.
