Good Morning from Switzerland

I hope everyone had a great weekend without to many mechanical issues so far! :) I noticed that my RR started making this noise when slowly driving. I'm not sure if this is related but on higher speeds (around 100kmh) when releasing the gas pedal, a vibration can be felt for around 10 seconds.

I know it is very hard to make a diagnosis without checking underneath the car. However, I'm wondering if this might be an urgent fix? I'm not driving the RR daily and will be in Germany around Christmas with access to a car workshop (I would be able to save a lot of money if it can wait this long). Thank you very much for every suggestion.

Yes, the owners of imgur fell out with the UK regulator over some content they allowed so it is blocked if you have a UK IP address. I have been using imgbb.com instead (or a VPN to view content) for pictures and Youtube for video.

Listening to that noise on the video, my first thought was one of the propshaft universal joints, but my wife, sitting next to me, suggested the alternator. Not a bad suggestion, alternator or one of the idler pulleys. If it does it when not moving, with the engine just idling, then something driven by the serpentine belt. If it only does it when moving, that coupled with the vibration when the load is reversed on the drivetrain, that says a propshaft universal joint running dry. There's one on each end of the propshafts so 4 in all and without getting the wheels off the ground, you can't check them for play. There's a grease nipple on each one, give them a squirt of grease (easy to do on the ground with the suspension on high) and you will immediately see which one is the culprit as the grease will squirt out of the bearing. If you keep it greased, it should last a while as long as you don't put lots of stress through it, so will be OK until you can get it in the workshop to change the joint.

I cannot hear a squeak although that could be my ears ?

Mobile phones are not the best for recording car noises because they are designed to filter out the background & focus on voices. Or maybe YouTube has filtered the audio ?

I can hear it quite clearly, both on Youtube and imgur (using a VPN so it thinks I'm in the Netherlands) so maybe the speakers on my laptop are better than yours. Listening to it again, I'm more convinced it is a propshaft UJ.

Yes Windows laptop is an old 2012 Dell in a docking station, so audio is not the best.

Just tried it on my 2019 Mac Laptop and I can hear it in the YouTube video. It does seem speed related, so agreed check the prop UJ's & maybe wheel bearings ?

Thank you both very much (+ Gilberts wife) !! That's very reassuring!

I'll put some grease on the joints this weekend and upload some pictures :) I forgot to mention that the sound only appears when I push down the gas pedal, it's not noticeable in idle. Anyway thank you very much and I'll report back :)

Good start into the week to you and fun fact with Imgur :D
