Has any one got a working gas strut on their cubby box.

I have just replaced mine as its never been working . I was expecting it to raise the cubby box lid once the release button was pressed but all it actually does is holds it up.

£12 just to hold up a lid, I need to smack the back of my head :)

Yes, I replaced mine some months ago.

The lid was a bit stiff, but now it springs up to attention when I open it.

Quite pleased, really, with little things!

Oh, I had thought of helping the old dud strut with a spring, but couldn't be bothered in the end.

I replaced mine and it does raise the lid. Make sure the latch is working properly. The latch was interfering with the lid on mine.

Just had another play and it doesnt spring up. Its holds it up but doesnt spring it up. I am able to position the lid at any degree and it will hold it there but doesnt attempt to raise it up further.

What did you use to replace the rivet that was holding the bottom on ?

Ok. Just seen a video of how it should work and Im concluding mine is faulty. Will get int ouch with Island 4x4.
