Before I did anything to the brakes, the PCRV had a small weep. Nothing to shout about, but...

Now I've rebuilt the modulator and the ABS pump, the PCRV now become the weakest link and is fair pissing out. I have the plans for the PCRV mod off the other site but, as yet, have not found anywhere that gives me the confidence to make me one.

So, insurance and C&U regs issues aside, which don't come into play here, has any6ine tried a temporary delete?

I don't run loaded, neither do I tow, so it doesn't have too much thinking to do!

Britpart ANR3323 isn't too spendy. Now you've got your very own Britpart warehouse over there why not just stick one on? Same faffing as fitting a tee to bypass and the worst it'll do is leak like the old one!

Fair point, well made, however, and I'm guessing here.

Britpart will not stock any '38 parts as hardly any were sold here. So that's probably out.

I am unable to order from overseas at the moment so looking for a short term solution. Looks to me like a couple of inches of pipe and two female fittings would do it.

It's the "why nots" I'm looking for really.

The only 'why not' that I'm thinking is that will obviously change the brake balance front-rear, so the rears are running at full system pressure and will do a lot more of the stopping. I don't know how/if this will affect the handling...

As I think you said you don't go over 20 mph in traffic I can't see a rearwards brake bias making much practical difference. It's not like it's reducing front pressure or anything, just increasing rear.
Won't be like an F1 car with failed regen braking that fry their tiny back brakes and come into the pit lane with brakes in flames.
Might make emergency stops on slippery road interesting with back trying to overtake front though. Give the ABS a workout.

So just for the craic I mailed Britpart Philippines today and received a very fast response. It said:

"Dear George, we will need the VIN of the vehicle to process your request." Seems reasonable. "By the way, what is a PCRV?"

I've explained it's the thing under my bonnet currently dribbling fluid like an incontinent Labrador.

Reminds me of a poster that started appearing around Central London sponsored by some bunch of vegans. It showed a picture of a sheep and a dog and the caption said "Why do we keep one as a pet and kill the other?". Someone had written on one, "because we aren't in Korea....."

Well, they sent me a pretty picture from a parts book asking me to point out which bit I wanted, although I'd already given them the part number. So I did and it's all gone quiet!

Update, I take it all back! Just had a quote with 3-5 day delivery.

How does price compare with the £35 or so over here?

Is that 3-5 working days, 3-5 public holiday days or 3-5 days without a Y in them?

I know that sounds steep, but if I order from the UK there'll obviously be shipping, but the big mystery is how much customs gouge me for. I've never been able to work out how they calculate duty, outside of chicken bones and a spot of rune-reading,

I've paid anything from 10% right up to 100% and don't forget, they charge on the part and the freight. So coming from the UK, it could still easily be as expensive as ordering this one. At least I know up front what it's going to sting me!

I'm going to pop in an see them next week, as they want 50% up front, so I'll have a gander at their set up

Ah, now your talking about PHLPost. Couriers are normally three/four days but if stuff is sent by post, well.

I think they have two postal services; "Soon" which is like express delivery, only much, much slower, and "Later" which is similar to "Soon" but takes even longer. I've had a part manage to take 28 days to travel the 13kms from the airport to the central post office. I know traffic can be bad but even so...

Their vans have "Mail, do not delay" on them, they should add, "We don't need your help"!

Oh, they do have another service called "Scotty" but we won't dwell on that. :-)

Ordered up the PCRV via Britpart yesterday so hopefully I'll be able to fit it over the weekend.

Hopefully you are correct!

All the hard lines look good (the beauty of no winter) and I gave the calipers a thorough inspection when I last changed pads so, given that the flexibles are new SS, once the PCRV is done, there shouldn't be anything left to leak/fail.

It seems that all the areas of issue (aside from the modulator washers) have been 22 year-old bits of rubber in the form of seals and rings. Probably not surprising really!
