A guy in my Land Rover club has moved on from his two P38's to an L322 and is having a clearout of parts.

He's offered me his old single exit stainless steel exhaust for £550-£600, including a set of standard cats and the O2 sensors. The cats and Y-pipe are mild steel, everything after that is stainless. It came off a 1999 Thor.

He had it custom made with off roading in mind (he's heavily in to the competitive trials side of our club). The pipe that goes across the car that joins the two cats together is raised up to stop it getting squashed off road. This is slightly oval in shape too but this is by design and not off road damage. The rear silences is smaller than standard, again for the slightly increased clearance off road.

It has a Powerflow centre box so is slightly louder than stock.

It's in Melton Mowbray and is strictly collection only - the cat Y-pipe is welded to the centre pipe so is too large to package up and post.

I'd take it if I could but just don't have the funds at the moment!

He has a bunch of other parts available too as he broke one of his P38's for parts and sent the shell off to be scrapped. If you need anything let me know and I'll message him and ask if its available.

I bought hi flow cats ( as new ) in stainless with rest of system in stainless from east coast for £160-180, can’t remember which, sounds like something for the off roaders in your club.

Cheers, I'll let him know. He might want to revise his price.

It does sound over the top for a s/h exhaust. They do occasionally come up on Ebay if you leave a search running. That is where I bought mine which is a double s.
It is one thing I would buy second hand. However there are stainless exhausts and there are stainless exhausts. You get what you pay for and I personnally wouldn't pay more than £200 for a system.
The bolts and flanges are nearly always carbon steel and on mine the pipes developed surface rust. After enquiring I found they are made from 409 grade stainless and the boxes in 304. The factory said they could make them in anything I wanted (for a price obviously) all 304 or even all 316 with a mirror finish for show cars.
409 grade does not have any nickel in it, just chromium. It is also magnetic which made me think at first it was carbon steel.

Well remembered! Thanks.

Can't remember the damned official name of the colour now! It'll come to me.

A spot of CRAFT.

It was called Tan up until 98 but from 99 onwards they called it Walnut, although better known as dog poo. After having a bit of a tidy up in my garage, I've got a full set of what you need but in Ash Grey (almost black). You are welcome to these if you think painting them would be an option.

He didn't say what colour the interior was but he did say he had almost none of it left.
