I need to take out the headlampunits. The two outer bolts come loose but not the two inner nuts mounted to the grille/bodypart. They are rusted and the boltpart going into the lampassembly turns too, I think they are slotted in some plasticpart inside the housing.
Can I simply grind off the nuts and replace the bolts not doing something stupid irreverseble? Why do I want the units out? The adjustment mechanism is corroded and won't adjust, I want to set them a bit lower.

Leave the lights and recalibrate your EAS?

That is an option (probably quicker to carry out) but I can't stand something being rotten tight...

I will have a look at the ones I took off when I changed them for L/H lights moving to France.
I remember having a similar problem getting them off.

If you would be so kind... I'm not in a hurry, first off to Spain 1st september (maybe I might spot a white P38 blasting along the Autoroute).

Ok, managed to dig them out the back of the loft, as usual always the box buried deep at the back, lol.

I now need to find my camera as my phone is off for repairs but basically the bolt on one of the corners was removed due to it being rusted to the nut on the car. It could be replaced if I wanted to put them back probably by using a bolt and sliding it through the back and the securing it tight by using a nut on the outside so as to stop it from turning when tightening the bolt on the car body.
There is also some other damage, not sure but I think its where It had to be cut from the wiper section.

I will find my camera and upload the pics today.

corner bolt removed. You can slide up a bolt from inside. There is room between the black shroud and the light case.

The piece at the bottom had to be cut through for it to be released. You can also see a better view of the missing bolt on the left hand corner

Top view, just for info on another bolt hole thats secured with a metal retaining clip. Easily replaced if this is a problem bolt.

Thank you Paul for the pics. It's the middle picture lefthandcorner that is the culprit (both housings, if I grind the nut off I can slide a replacement in from the inside I think.
Thanks again, Tony.

Yes you can Tony but they are originally secured by having the plastic molded to it so you will need to secure it in place to stop it spinning, shouldn't be difficult.
