My wipers have an intermittent problem when, although they are working, they are not doing what they should be. When I push the stick upwards they should sweep across once. They might and they might not. They may stop half way across the screen. Same with other positions. May or may not do what they should. Also intermittent alarm fault message and ignition key in when it is not. When that happens it won't lock. Have to shove the key in the ignition and out again. It is never ending with this vehicle

For the wiper problem it has to be something common to both the wipe and the park. I'd be looking at F25 and relay 8 as they supply the power, The alarm fault message is usually due to a dodgy connection at the ultrasonic sensor. Pull it out of the headlining, unplug it, give it a squirt of contact cleaner and that should clear it. Ignition key in means the microswitch is gummed up with dirt and fluff transferred from your pocket on the key. If you push the flap back and squirt brake cleaner in the lock and then work the key in and out a few times. The switch is near to the opening at the bottom. Brake cleaner will evaporate and not leave anything that will gum it up further

No, not the BeCM, I was being facetious. Wipers will be RL8 or the wiper motor itself while the other two just need an aerosol.
Sometimes the ultrasonic sensor itself fails aswell - but they are a part that was used in come Discovery models aswell from memory.
As Gilbertd mentions.. not BECM at all... Either a wiper motor relay, or the park switch in the wiper motor itself. Mine did exactly what you described the other week - bit seems to have unstuck itself and is now behaviour Ng properly.
Ignition Key In also as mentioned - there switch is triggered by the flap that covers the barrel when the key is out. If that is sticking, then it doesn't always slide back into place, and you get the ignition key in message. I can't remember, but this may also trigger an alarm fault if you then lock the vehicle with key/fob whilst it still thinks the key is in, as it might get confused.
Don’t forget to get some graphite to squirt in the ignition lock, keeps it nice and free
