Looking at the parts book I see that there is a single part number for fuel injectors for all P38 models, regardless of GEMS or Bosch. ERR6600. However I note on other sources these broken down into early (ERR722 for GEMS) and late (ERR6600 for Bosch).
My question is, are they in fact interchangeable? Do I take the parts book at face value, or should I find ERR722 for my GEMS and not grab the ERR6600 which is more readily available.

I read that some people were using 5.0 Mustang injectors, but I can't personally verify that they work. If they do, it would probably be a much cheaper option.
on the side of the injector is a number, google it and do a comparison , with one being bosch and the other a lucus i doubt if they are directly interchangeable
I wouldn't know if they are interchangeable but I do know that the O rings are a different size between GEMS and Thor, so I suspect that isn't the only difference. The Thor uses a higher fuel pressure too so I would suspect the flow rate is lower.
I think the original premise is wrong though, Lrcat distinctly shows separate part numbers for gems and thor, and I don't know of any other parts book which takes precedence, other than microcat, perhaps
Lrcat is Microcat only ripped off and hosted on a Russian site. Both Lrcat and Microcat both show ERR722 as up to VIN WA410481, so GEMS and ERR6600 as from VIN XA410482 so Bosch. having looked at the usual suppliers, there doesn't seem that much difference in price between either, all around £50 a pop.
Sure, although Microcat will give you a vin-specific search option, so lrcats a bit dumbed down. Which follows in a fine Russian tradition: Concordski etc
I was just hunting for something else in Rave, and spotted that in General Specs it list the injector for GEMS as Lucas D1000 - in case you can get a better price by searching the Lucas part code...
D1000 is just a series rather than an actual part number. From here http://users.erols.com/srweiss/tableifc.htm, it looks like the Bosch ones are 0-280-155-787. If you can find the actual part number for a Lucas GEMS injector, you can compare the specs.
Ok, good spot, these Bosch ones are meant to be equivalent of ERR722: 0280-155- 884 - specs are v different from the 787 above, although I'm no injector nerd
Just checked a GEMS injector, it has D18306A stamped on the side of it.
Google suggests that should be D1830GA.
Looking on the Island 4x4 site last night for something else, I noticed that they have both GEMS and Thor injectors in stock and the GEMS ones are actually cheaper.
