The original sat nav has never worked and before I dig deep in to the reasons why, I wondered if anyone has fitted an alternative?

I found this on the web.

Just a mobile phone in a holder stuck on the windscreen. I use Google for navigating on the road. You need to have mobile data enabled to use it.

When off the beaten track I have got an Android app that runs UK Ordinance Survey maps. Not sure about the legality of it.

It is not navigation, it just shows you where you are, or more usually that you are not where you thought you are.

The link you provided is a very neat job.

ChrisNo10, RomanRob and Marty (and probably a few others) have replaced the original with an Android head unit. No doubt one of them will give you some tips and pictures.

Depends if you just want an alternative to the sat nav or to completely replace the whole sat nav and audio system. If you want to keep the existing stereo and just replace the sat nav the easiest option is to fit a small tablet in it's place.

Super neat but not for me.......

The standard head unit gives a great sound so just a sat nav replacement would be good.

Find a tablet that will fit in the space, you can then run Google Maps or Waze by tethering it to your phone.

I'd be interested to know what that setup that Phazed posted above costs.

The only thing I'd like to be different is the new buttons would be adapted into the existing head unit. Even if it didn't work, I'd like it to look factory.

If its the 7" screen X702D-F Freestyle system its discontinued. Current version is X703D-F UK price seems to be £1,200 - £1,500 or thereabouts. The larger, 9" version X903D-F seems to be nearer £1,500 although one site suggests list is £2,000 all but a few pennies.

Yikes!

Presumably that includes gold plated oxygen free speaker wires.

But you do get 3 years of Tom Tom map updates.
