Does anyone have a handy to for getting the glovebox you shut on both sides?
I’ve a LHD P38 and the glovebox kid on side closest to the door will not latch properly no matter how hard I slam it.
I know I am going to have to remove trim etc to get to the mechanics of it, but does anyone have a trick or such that they use to help get the bloody thing to latch properly?

Make sure the latch isn't actually closed. They can over rotate and jam closed, especially if someone has been playing with them. The only way to fix it is to pull the mechanism out. Once out you will see, that by adjusting a couple of set screws you can alter how the box closes on each side. You can also alter the hinge set screws to level the lid from side to side.

You can adjust the screws with the glove box in place - you just need a fairly thin flat blade screwdriver.

If you have a look up at where the glove box latches (with it open of course) you should see a couple of slots where if you insert a screwdriver, you can turn the adjuster - which moves the catch assembly forward/backward.

It might just need a tweak of a couple of turns one way or the other to get it to catch when the glove box is closed

Marty, when I am adjusting do I physically have to move the catch after I turn the screws or is my turning of the screws moving the catch?
Thanks

Besides the useful advice here, if you shoot me your email on PM and I can try to send you (today will be busy most of the day but I'll try)the "official" LR procedure I've found some time ago. If there is a way to upload it somewhere for the pub, I'll be glad to do it as well.

When you turn the screws, it will physically move the internals, so nothing to move other than the screw.
I had the same issue and a couple of turns solved it!
Good luck!

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that someone pried their way into my glovebox at some point, as the LHS latches but the lip doesn't fully close up - despite having spent a good while on my LH adjuster screw. Not sure what is under my leather covering on the glove box door, I assume some sort of steel plate. I may lean on the door lip next time it's off the car
