Delete the img commands before and after it, so all you have is a link starting with https and ending with .jpg. Click on the insert image box along the top (where you have, from left to right, Bold, Italic, Heading, Link and Image) and a box will pop up. Paste the link address in that box (making sure you overwrite the https that is already in there), click OK and a string of text will appear in your post, ignore that and when you click Reply to send your post, the picture will appear. You can click the Preview button before posting to check that you got it right (and click it again to go back to editing mode).
If you click the edit button on your post, you'll see what I have done so the picture appears.
Thanks for that. I will take a peek. How is it that my picture has appeared in the post above yours, when I previewed it there wasn't a picture!
Because I edited your post so the picture appeared rather than just a link.
You would have seen your text, then the image link within the img in square brackets, then the rest of the text. I removed the img bits, then cut the link and pasted it into the popup box.
Both of our Vogue SE’s need their headlinings replacing so I’m trying to find someone to do them without having to spend £250 each as I really don’t fancy doing it myself. I guarantee it’s something I’d make a total arse of.
Surely its worth at least £250 each to have someone do a very good job on your car.
It's £72 for the kit from Martrim and with 3 people it's easy to do. In fact, I'd rather do the headlining than remove the numerous screws and clips to take it out. Have a look at this https://www.martrim.co.uk/car-trimming-supplies/headlining-kit-tutorial.php
£250 each isn’t bad but at the moment I’ve got a lot going on so it’s money I’d rather not spend seeing as one of the cars has just had a brand new engine costing over £4000 by the time I’d replaced all the bits and pieces I found and the other car has had a ton of work done to it during lockdown as well.
David.
i always thought that, how to topic, would come in handy more than once
I am paying more than £250 but am having the sunroof done as well. Happy to pay an expert. I’d rather convert the car back to air suspension than do the lining which is what I did!
I'm going to try and round up a couple of helpers this weekend and give it a go with the Martrim kit. I'll let you know how I get on. My thinking was that even if I mess it up twice it will still cost less than getting it done by a pro.
Getting the foam off seemed quite easy with a thin bladed scraper and just "ploughing" sections of it off.
This video goes into more detail. It is in Spanish though!
The guy who is going to do mine will be taking out the whole roof section. Preparing it and fitting the new lining before fitting the whole assembly back into the car. I believe he has to remove the sunroof frame to get out the sliding panel to recover that as well so the whole job is more involved, hence I will happily leave it to him.
I would happily give you a hand this weekend but need to safely distance even more so at the moment as my wife is going into hospital this week for an operation.
That's the only way to do it and the hardest part is opening the little tabs on the sun visor clips to get to the screw underneath without breaking the tab off. Sliding panel is easy enough once the glass is off (4 Torx screws) and you wouldn't do the rest without doing that too.
Thanks phazed. With both of us on the endangered species list it's probably safer if I enlist a couple of civilians who are not a risk.
Hope your wife's op goes well.
David. If you’re doing it this weekend it would be good if I could pop down for a socially distanced hello when you are carrying out the work.
Let me know.
Will do. As soon as I have date/time.
Just experimenting with picture loading. By George I think I have it!
Thank you David.
Is there enough material in the Martrim kits to complete both the headlining and the sunroof slide?
