I’m getting ready to buy some new tyres. On 18” comets. I want A/T as I am fed up of changing between my M/T and road tyres when I go greenlaning or see a snowflake in the sky.

My go-to has always been BF Goodrich KO2. Anyone tried them on a P38? How’s it handle? Should I stick with factory size or go up a little?
Alternatively, is there another tyre I should consider?

Cheers

I have KO’s on the D2, which are really great all round tires. When the all seasons in the P38 wear out I plan to put KO’s on it too.

I am OK with the Falken Wildepeak, but on 16". Bit noisy. Have not gone beyond the easy greenlane.
A mate in Italy is running 255/60 on 18" and says is the best compromise for mostly on-road use.

Harv, are you running standard size?

Yes, on the P38. I have 32’s on the Disco. I’ve thought a lot about larger tires on the P38. The big killer for me is that even a slightly larger tire won’t fit in the spare tire space. On the P38 you can’t get away with a smaller spare due to the AWD and viscous coupling. At this time I’m not keen on building a swing away spare, though that would solve the problem.

well, shoot.

so, a 30.5" tire won't fit in the spare space? i didn't even think to check that.

i was hoping to throw some 265/60/18 Pirelli Scorpion ATs on.

I’m pretty sure it won’t go in. I tried fitting a 31 (from memory) from my son’s Forerunner and no way.

I know 265/70/16 won't.
