The fuel gauge is stuck on empty and there is more than 10 litres in the tank.

Using the Nanocom the gauge will move so I suspect it is either the sender or the float.

Before I drop the tank has anyone had any luck dislodging a stuck float? Flexible rods?

Any other test to do first?

Thanks.

There may be nothing wrong with it. The Ascot was showing empty with the gauge not even reaching to bottom mark, it took 3 gallons before it started to read anything. It you can tilt the car, left side down and right side up will cause the float to lift. Nano can show you the fuel level and it might be easier to see a slight change on that rather than on the gauge.

Mine sticks on zero when the level is low and I park on my sons drive which is about a 30 degree slope.
When I drive over a bump, the needle bounces back into life. It is OK when the tank is full.
None of this is much help to you. It was a cheap level gauge from Island4x4.

Thanks for the thoughts I'll try a bit of rock and roll first.

Richard, I'm going to name you the Sage of Peterborough!

Tilting the car changed the Nanocom reading from 146 to 141. Another 10 litres and the gauge popped up to just above empty.

Thank you again for great advice.

There's a lot more left in the tank when it says it's empty than you think, suppose there's less chance of running out. I only found out about the tilt when I once stopped at the side of a road with a very steep camber to deal with a phone call. I had a 1/4 tank of fuel when I stopped and half a tank when I pulled away after a few minutes.....
