morning chaps and chapess
I'm about to undertake a task in the next couple of weeks to remove parts including a injector pump from a donar p38 2.5td (sadly being scrapped) to put on mine I was just wondering what tools will I need to remove it
I've have a friend who has all the tools to refit and time the pump to mine once we have it back
has anyone done this before
I'm going to send my old pump to be reconditioned

I'm not sure but I think you will have to remove front case off engine so you can undo pump drive but --- m57 need puller so would imagine same for your engine The pump itself has 3x13mm nuts clamping to engine and a 13mm nut & bolt at rear of pump ---- pipes are 17mm fittings and nut on pump gear drive is 19mm nut( bar & socket) the biggest issue will be removal of front case

thanks for that I'll have my brother inlaw who's a mobile mechanic with me to help take it off so will take his van with us so will have plenty of tools
is there anything thing eles I should be wary of when removing the pump

Not really just make sure you line up all timing marks ---- I use a white marker pen to make it easier seeing them ---- have fun with it mate it's quite a mission ---- but very rewarding when all done and running again

my neighbour has all the timing kit so will be using that to put new one on mine so should just be case of removing of old engine and replacing on to mine

I don't know much about M51 BMW engine as at work we had M57 engines but they can't take high revs too long and I've written off at least 10 of them ---- the locking set will be a great benefit to you --- maybe idea to have injectors too as the #4 is no longer available ( got wire on it)

didn't cross my mind about the injector both engines are the M51 so no worries about high rev problems
it just a shame I didn't have room at mine or I would of brought the whole donnor vehicle and used it for spares to keep mine on the road

I've bit the bullet and brought the whole donor engine that way I've got all the spare bits if needed

it makes sence to get a spare would of been silly to let it go for scrap
