hi I've been given some seats for my p38 2.5td on a 2000 plate
the new seats came from older model as only has 2 wires for the heated seats (they still work 🤣🤣) enter image description here the new seats

enter image description here
seats in mine now
as you can see mine has the built in srs system the old ones don't
so question is there a way to transfer my srs system from mine to the ones I've been given?

SRS is in the backrest only so you could mix and match, using the existing backrests and new bases. Or just get some bypass resistors to plug into the wiring so the SRS system thinks they are still there https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113954336789

the ones I've got in are ash grey and the ones be given are cream if change the bases do you mean the padding or the whole base

Ah, I meant retain your backrest and use the new bases as usually it is the base that is worn out but the backrest is OK. However, as they are different colours that isn't an option. Looks like you need bypass resistors then.

(I do not see photos if any).
If you want to play, you can mix and match what you want... I remade my seats re-utilizing my bases (with SRS) and padding from an earlier model seat, but in better condition, and with the leather from a third seat :-)

there are pics it might not be showing them
might just keep my seats in and take the heated part out of the cream ones as I know they work

Pictures weren't showing initially until I edited the links, should be OK now.

Easy enough to test the heaters, put your meter on the Ohms scale and see if you have a low resistance between the two pins on each plug. Backrest rarely fails but the base often does as people will insist on sitting on it and breaking the element. Swapping the cover is not a fun job, see https://web.archive.org/web/20180513085246/http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/seats/seatheat4.html

If your looking at swapping the base just for the heater element you might aswell just repair the existing, or buy a set from eBay/amazon etc and fit to yours changing the plug so wiring fits, as Richard says, a pig of job for seats that don’t really get that warm, I fitted the hotter stats and a set I bought my mum get hotter and are a lot quieter to warm up

@Gilbertd I'm going with you option of the resistors as think that will help with every time I move the driver seat the SRS warning comes up on the dash thats problem with height difference in me and the wifey 🤣🤣

Dear All,
I need to replace my non electric passenger side seat base (DOH burnt through it with soldering iron) and have a good complete but electric seat from a breaker. Having looked through all the various threads on seats/heater elements etc i can't see any obvious way of just removing the bottom cushion from mine and slotting the replacement in? Is it possible?

Yes. The seat base is held to the frame by 4 Torx headed bolts. Not immediately obvious as they are well tucked away. Ideally you need the seat out and reclined fully so it is almost flat (might be more difficult on an electric seat compared with the big windy knob on the manual ones). The base and backrest are connected with a strip of material that is secured with a plastic strip that can be levered off.

I have got a poverty spec DSE. It has electric leather seats but the basic ones.
What is involved in changing them to the all singing/all dancing version with electric lumbar adjustment?
Anyone done it?

DSE isn't poverty spec, DT is. DSE is SE spec but with the diesel engine so the same as a 4.0 or 4.6 SE. According to the ETM, all electric seats have the lumbar pump? Or do you mean you have the manual seats with electric up and down and nothing else? My 4.0SE had electric, but not memory, seats. You can swap yours for the higher spec memory seats but if you add memory seats you'd also need to add the seat outstation and change the seat loom for one that matches the seats.

It just has electric up and down and tilt. Forward and back is manual.
I have had the seat in bits repairing the heaters and doing some stitching. I didn't see a lumbar pump.
I am the only one that drives it so don't need memory seats. Also forward and back stays in the same postion all the time.

Yes, that isn't an electric seat as far as LR are concerned. Electric has forward and back, up and down, backrest tilt and lumbar pump.
