Is anyone on here selling key covers (the bit that goes around the circuit board and holds the blade)? Mine's very tatty now and very hard to get battery out for replacement.

You can get the cheapo Chinese ones on eBay but they aren't that good so the circuit board can move around inside making them intermittent. Your best bet would be to send it to Jon and get it fully refurbished, see https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402718362924

+1 on second-remote-repair. He got my spare remote working again. Don't go to a company called Fobfix. Bad experience.

I just did a search and came across this:

Never tried them. Sounds ridiculously cheap.

The cheap cases are the ones that allow the circuit board to move around. It doesn't come with the little strip of metal that goes in the battery holder which is the bit that causes most problems with bad contacts.

I’ve never had any problems with eBay cases, I knock the roll pin out and after a little filing the original blade goes in, I must be buying the half decent ones, lol

I understand that these keys are numbered with up to four being available to each vehicle. Something to do with remembering settings for memory seats etc... I have two 'number 1' keys. I bought a new one to replace the old one when it became too far gone but before I was aware of the numbering. If I got the old key reconditioned would using two number 1 keys cause synching issues?

Yep, you can only have one of them synced at a time.
