My MAF was diagnosed as faulty during an LPG tune up… it read 20 and didn’t change.

I have another MAF from my breaker which reads various figures on Nanocom, however my question is what ought it be reading? I want to know if this one is good or bad before laying out on a brand new one.

Vehicle currently pretty lumpy idle on petrol hot or cold which LPG guy said could be dirty injectors.

Thanks

I had a generic one on a 4.0 disco, which whilst it did change reading, was causing fuel trims to drift all the way to rich on petrol, If I remember rightly, they were that far away they were stuck at the max end of the scale and wouldn't self reset. Reset adaptive valves and a new bosch sensor brought it back to where it should be on the trims.

I can have a look what mine reads if thats any help, but given is a 4.0 and a Disco 2 its probabbly not the best benchmark for you. I think the figures may be specified in Rave but a real world example of the 4.6 would probabbly be more helpful to you.

Thanks, anything will help. I don’t know where to start looking in Rave!

Mine is a genuine one if that makes a difference

Genuine one (Bosch) is definitely the better bet, the copies do not work well on the Thor engines.

Thanks Richard. Will get it warm in the morning and double check this.

Mark Adams who owns Tornado Systems (they specialise in tuning Rover V8’s) told me that the THOR MAF sensors should be changed if you’ve no history that it’s been done in the service history.

He also said don’t fit anything other then a genuine Bosch one.

I fitted a new Bosch MAF to our 4.6 THOR when the new engine went in and it’s been great ever since.

I will order one then as the two I have at 130k and 100k mileage so bound to be worn out.
