Got a reading on my nanocom fault 1179 a friend correction at its maximum negative valve, any ideas?

P1179 is listed as Maximum Negative AMFR Correction Fault which means the adaptive value for the MAF is as low as it will go so it has reached the maximum limit. Reset the adaptive values and then check the readings from the MAF. They should be 20 kg/hr plus or minus 3 kg/hr at idle speed and 61 kg/hr (again plus or minus 3 kg/hr) at 2,500 rpm. This is checked at sea level, engine fully warmed up, in Neutral and with all electrical loads off.

If they are outside of these specs, the ECU will add a correction factor to keep them in spec but it can only adjust by a certain amount and yours has adjusted beyond that.

I believe you can get the same fault code if mixture is incorrect due to a lambda problem too? In that case the MAF will read higher than usual airflow because the airflow really is higher (rather than the problem being duff Maf)... When mixture is incorrect (especially if lean, not so much if slightly rich but again if very rich) the engine needs more air to make the same power and more air to maintain idle speed.

I recently had the same fault. I sprayed the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner. So far so good but it’s only been a couple of weeks so I can’t say that I solved it for sure.

Weather is a bit bad for much testing but I changed the air filter from a k&n type to standard paper filter (Mann) and she is running much smoother now and no fault code. Thankyou all for you input much appreciated.

I would suspect the K&N filter to be the culprit. I have one in my carbureted motorcycle but I think the oil in the filter gums up EFI sensors. I think in theory if you put the minimum amount of oil on the filter it may be okay but I’m pretty sure I would over oil it every time.
