My name is Dave. A bit older than some ( me not the P38).
My P38 is a 2000 Range Rover Vogue 4.6 with a thor engine. Bought in 2021 as a hobby to tinker with, but turns out to be a good example and am using it daily. Bodywork appears good and passed MOT at first attempt, with no advisories!
I am thinking about converting P38 (not me), to run on lpg. Does anybody have any recommendations for lpg installers and best pieces of kit to go for. I live in North East England.

Hi Dave, we are all a bit older than some young kids don't have the aptitude to work on cars and you need to be able to do that if you own a P38 and don't have bottomless pockets. Simon, on here as LPGC, is a full time LPG installer and one of the few I would trust to do the job right. Having looked at your website Simon, it does look like a 'no brainer' - but only if I can get fuel reasonably close by.

Someone - possibly GilbertD - did post a link to a map of LPG suppliers a little while ago. Any chance that could be posted again - if only to remind me that, where I am, a conversion doesn't make so much sense.

Most reliable one is autogas.app
There's an Android app for it too the only downside is it is always a couple of days out of date. The previous one was www.filllpg.co.uk, which still works but is horrendously slow, was updated by users instantly whereas autogas.app has any updates checked and confirmed before it is updated.

I don't think I could ever have afforded to do the mileage I do if I was running on petrol......

As Richard posted, https://autogas.app/ and https://www.filllpg.co.uk are the more reliable sources of stations for UK users.

For Scotland, theres a partial list at https://www.gleaner.co.uk/services/lpg/autogas/ and Flogas seem to have fixed their stockist list now at https://www.flogas.co.uk/stockists so you can filter for just autogas. Both of those will only list their available locations though. There isn't anything for Calor anymore.

Filllpg seems to have suffered from some unidentified issue leading to the app being pulled from the play store - more info here https://www.lpgforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=15962 This seems to stem from the website being horrendously slow for some reason.

You also have https://www.mylpg.eu/stations/united-kingdom/ which isn't the best for the UK.

For your purposes I'd think the autogas.app one is the best bet for a quick look. The only ones that show prices are Autogas.app, Filllpg and mylpg.eu all of which are based on user provided data.

Thanks, it's been so long since I've looked at it myself that I've forgotten what I've put on there! I know it looks amateurish and has some dodgy formatting and broken links but I leave it as it is because a lot of people say there's good info on there and because I haven't got time to do anything with it. I regularly get firms emailing me to say they've reviewed it and could bring it up to date or optimise it for Google searches but unless I sat down with them I expect I'd end up with a cut down site that looked like every other LPG firms website. It used to work better with less dodgy formatting but I let someone I know have a go at changing it without changing any of the wording or sections etc, and I think they made it worse than it was before...

Well, it certainly has a certain "old school" feeling to it, and not quite flashy as some of the newer platforms (which are also more "touch-friendly"). Personally, I could not care less, as I am after information not fancyness, but yes, in some moment you will be "pushed" to update :-)
