My P38 has recently developed slightly odd handling where it feels as if the rear end is choosing a slightly different direction to the front. Recent work at the front includes new radius arm bushes, panhard rod bushes and drag link, and over all the car feels much better. The rear panhard rod bushes appear to be fine, but I suspect the rear radius arm bushes are the main cause.

Is this a common experience? It's my first P38 having driven RR Classics since 2008, my Classic Range Rovers never seemed to do this!

There were reports a few years ago of the rivets holding the trailing arm to the end piece that bolts to the axle failing. The cure for that was to grind the heads off to get them out and replace them with stainless bolts. Never actually seen any that have been like it though. The other possibility is the bushes where the trailing arms bolt to the chassis.

if the bushing is soft the vehicle will feel like it's slightly drifting around corners and changing directions like you have to position yourself twice for the corner.

Even if the bushes look okay, just replace them all. Panhard and radius arms.

Sadly, it looks like ANR3285 is NLA - has anyone found a source of OE ones? I was going to buy the correct tool, as they're not a bad price, but it doesn't seem like a worthwhile investment if I can't buy the genuine bushes anyway!

I guess poly bushes are the way to go if I can't get genuine/OE bushes - I already have the panhard rod bushes, Lemforder, made in the UK.....

Admittedly not OE but still vastly superior to poly bushes.

That's what I meant - genuine or OE bushes are no longer available - obviously pattern ones are readily available. I must admit I really don't want poly bushes, but I also don't want cheap inferior bushes - puts me between a rock and hard place!

So now Bearmach have disappeared, which of the alternatives do you recommend? Britpart or Allmakes? Maybe they source them from the same place anyway.....I guess the proper LR tool is required to fit them.

I'd go for Allmakes but, as you say, there's probably not a lot to choose. However, with poly bushes known to be worn out in a matter of months, they are definitely going to be better than them.
