Hi All,

I have a 2001 2.5 DHSE P38 and have recently noticed that on declaration at about 20 mph downwards there is a wobble/vibration that is felt through the car. It disappears when I provide the engine with some revs.

Could this be a wheel balance or something? Any ideas? I have changed the fan belt which broke and the idler pulleys and belt tensioner arm + pulley. I also changed a wheel but it was fine until the mechanical work was completed.

Regards,

Brakes maybe? Wheel imbalances seem to cause issues from 50-60 up, so prob not an issue when you are declerating. If just received deceleration without braking then diff will cause change in sound, but probably not the vibration.

don't the diesels have a rubber block as a universal with three bolts in it . it sounds like a tail shaft problem thou.

That's true, the diesel has a rubber donut on the output of the transfer box, could be that starting to break up.

The donut on the rear driveshaft on Disco 2’s are a very common vibration point.

When my front prop-shaft U/Js went I got a vibration at around 30MPH. There was no discernible play in the U/J until I loosened the mounting bolts. It then became quite apparent.
