Hi All,

I have a couple of spare clocks I'd like to test.

The connection is by two spade terminals arranged in a "T" .... is the vertical leg the positive one?

Looks to me like the horizontal one is the positive. Purple wire has volts, black wire is ground.

If you remove the casing, you can see that the 'gold' coloured pin (leg of the T) is also the ground of the illumination, the 'silver' coloured pin has a print '30 / +12V' which is the top of the T.
BTW, is there one around that still works? Mine runs for a few minutes and takes a rest again.

Tony.

Mine run and work fine aswell.

Though it's interesting you mention that - another owner that I installed a door latch for mentioned that his clock would randomly stop and start when it felt like it!

If they fail they all fail in the same way. It must be some diode or so, easy to replace.

The interior is a standard German VDO clock, the only difference is the electrical way of adjusting it (pulses) instead of turning the central knob.

I've been searching the net for spares but can't find them. Not too difficult finding a replacement clock but I just want to know why they fail, indeed sort of trauma. :)

Replaced mine about 2 years ago. It started loosing time then just completely failed.
