Hello folks,
On reassembling my dashboard I have closed the glovebox only to now discover that it won't open. There is no resistance at the button so I suspect that I hadn't got the cable attached properly,
Are there any ideas as to how I can get the thing open again without causing damage?

Ahhh, you've found rule #1 of putting the dash back in... always test the glove box before screwing it back in!!
Getting it open again will be a PITA, and to be honest I can't actually remember how I opened one last time as after doing it once, I always triple check the catch before putting the final screws in.
I'm trying to think, but you may have luck accessing the catch either from the center of the dash, with the fascia removed, or possibly from unbolt ingredients the bottom of glove box, and with the lower trim panel removed, being able to reach up around the glove box unit to trip the catch.
There's also a blanking plug on the side of the dash top, but again, not sure if removing that will give enough access for the likes of a piece of wire with a hook on it to reach the catch.

I read a how to on the net about this. Need to pull down on the gap where the glove box shuts, then with a posi drive bit and a little spanner, you can undo the screws securing the glove box to the dash. Then you're able to work on it once it's away.
Thanks for the replies. I inadvertently knocked the lid shut with my shoulder whist doing up the hinge bolts. Not that this excuses me from testing the latch first.
I shall follow the instructions in that link tomorrow.

Sorry my response wasn't more useful - still on holiday, so nowhere near my P38 to look into it in person, and was on the coach from San Francisco to Los Angeles today aswell!
