I've got headlamp wipers on my 2000 2.5td but I can't find the switch to turn them on or off do are they ment to come on when you use the wipers

If you have the headlights switched on and use the windscreen washers, the headlamp wash/wipe operates on every other use of the windscreen washers. Easy enough to test, switch the headlights on, poke the button to wash the screen then run round to the front to see if the headlamp washers and wipers are working. If they aren't, poke the screen wash button again and they should work second time.

think they need fixing as they loose wasn't sure if they had separate switch in the cab
thanks for that I will have a look at the weekend see if I can get them working again I didn't know if worked independently and switch was on causing battery drainage

Quite often the motor spindle seizes up. One of mine works while other doesn't.
Iirc disconnecting the washer pump motor connector disables them too.
