So, with the imminent arrival (yeah, right!) of my new car and a "What would you like for Christmas that you haven't already bought yourself?" request, my thoughts turned to putting in a Bluetooth Grom like this:

The system in the car is a gold plated High End Alpine with remote CD changer- an even rarer than usual working currently DSP amp to drive the centre dash etc extra speakers like this:

Until the amp goes pop I want to keep the standard audio and nav, when I'll probably do something with an Android unit similar to Marty's, but anyway
The Grom kit says only compatible with units without nav and Grom themselves are unable to tell me why or guarantee that it'll work as they show it as non-compatible.
Anyone fitted one with the nav system successfully?
I can't see why it wouldn't work - it just plugs in where the CD changer does... so you lose the changer, but oh well.
I had one - sold to... Spiggy? I think. Only sold it as my head unit was a bit flaky and in the end wanted to change the head anyway.

No afraid not. I'd be very surprised if it didn't work though. Its just emulating a changer.
If the part numbers of the head units for a nav and non-nav car are the same, I'd be even more inclined to think it would work. Marty would know more, but I thought the nav just told the DSP amp to mute when needed?
I'm thinking it's HOW it mutes the audio might be the issue. Only guessing though.

The nav mute line goes direct to the DSP amp and all the muting etc is done in there. If it is indeed just replacing the CD changer input, then I don't see why it shouldn't work...
On both Nav and non Nav vehicles the CD-changer goes into the head unit (same part number head unit...) the only difference in the systems is the output from the head unit - either to DSP amp, or to the door amps..

It was I who bought the BT3 ....... easy to fit and the sound quality very good streaming from an Android phone by Bluetooth.
I also bought Neutron music player for the phone.
So do you have factory nav in yours Spiggy?
I think I'll take a punt on the Grom and keep fingers crossed anyway
No, I have the HI Line HK system ...
If you are going to stream via BT, try the Neutron player and optimise the settings ... the sound is warm and rich!
I'll have a look at the Neutron player Spiggy, but I'm tied in to Spotify for my offline music.
Wish I could find someone who's actually had the Grom Bluetooth working with the High Line DSP system and factory nav though, just for peace of mind as Grom won't take it back if it doesn't work because they clearly state that it isn't compatible :(
I put in a basic Grom module, that plays from Usb sticks. Works very well. I never used nav, since for Hawaii Island, the DVD has NO ROADS! so can't help you there. I concur though....Nav should not be effected by adding the Grom
In case you want to "have it all", you can use a rotary switch and place this between the Grom, CD changer and head unit.
I put one in my 02 and had Grom, Changer and all!.........Then of course the wretched DSP amp died.......Then the NOS one I installed died.......Currently limping along on one from a Disco. No Sub, No rears......Sighhhhhhhhh
If and when I get done cruising, I am going to get the wiring harness from Marty and swap in separate amps!
