What's the idea of this place then? A calmer, more reasoned place than rr.net?

Anyway me and father are serial P38 botherers, please see current fleet below:

The flagship, a 4.6 HSE auto

2.5 DT auto

2.5 DT manual

2.5 DSE manual (such a new arrival it hasn't actually arrived yet)

Cheers!

Spot on. It was formed as a few years ago when rr.net had the redneck Admin who ran it as if it was his own personal site and a number of us got banned for varying lengths of time for correcting him, having a sense of humour or causing a thread to drift off topic. This site was set up as a virtual pub, you come in, sit down and join in the chat and banter. Virtually all of us own P38's, are based in the UK and work on our own cars. So we don't take our car to the 'shop' to be bent over backwards and charged stupid amounts of money for very simple jobs. I got a lifetime ban from rr.net for sending PM's to UK based owners and suggesting they join here rather than there. Ironically, I registered a different username, kept my head down for a while and have since been made Admin on there in place of the previous. Some of my posts on there would have without a doubt got me a ban previously but oddly enough, nobody has ever reported any of my posts to the Admin (me)......

I'll also edit your post so the pictures show up.

Welcome indeed!
The Pub is a great spot, and just chock full of knowledge!
When Gilbert says virtually all.......He means they even allow Yanks! (we have P-38's here too!)
Love the fleet. As of 2 weeks ago, I alas am down to just 2 here.......
Cheers!

I am also from "another side" ... and do not drive on the wrong side of the road LOL

This place is of invaluable worth for the P38 enthusiast, and not only, but motoring as well, intended as real motoring and not just cruising around in a tin can like the future that are shaping for the car driver.
Also has the right "vibe", very difficult to find nowadays.
And, being a forum, the information "stays", always to be retrieved as the need arises.

If this place could "materialize", I imagine it cozy with all wooden tables and chairs, a slight haze of smoke, big jugs of beer and other spirits, and busy conversation with repetitive explosions of laughter!
Can't visualize yet other types of "jugs", but I assume we can work that out too!

Welcome!

It begins. The verdict: alright.

Shit wheels, shit tyres, shit side steps, shit chrome letters on bonnet, shit window tints, reasonably shit clutch. Other than that a fairly unmolested example with 9 months MOT - not bloody bad for 900 quid!!! I don't think I will be able to stop myself from buying it off my dad.

and Thule roof bars. I've got a set of those that I put on if I need to carry a ladder, the rest of the time they stay off as they howl horribly at anything over 50mph.....

I've got a set of crossbars like that, Anything above 50mph and it feels like the ABS pump is operating and sounds like it as well. I've never known other roof bars to do that, fairly sure its the rubber strip underneath in my case that causes the sound and vibration.

Well they are coming off because I hate them. Anyone know where to find one of the mythical Safety Devices racks?

I wouldn’t be without my Yakima racks, but I either have a canoe or skis or bikes on top a lot of the time. You can probably sell your Thule’s.

That really would be a unique find!!!
I think they must have sold a dozen or so, and disappeared from the catalogue early on ... pity
