Everything appears to work as it should, except the air should be hotter. It's warm, but set on HI, it should be unbearable.

Unbearable eh? I don't actually know what it should feel like as mine both live on Auto 20 degrees permanently, with an occasional foray to Prog when the windows are fogged or icy.
Must try it sometime

Would a ride on Morats Nanocom give any further diagnosis?

Well, it would give inlet temp readouts to matrix, do a calibration run on flaps and read any stored faults, which'd be good

Well i'm not sure if this would cause slightly colder heating but i think it's safe to say that my O-rings have begun to leak. FFS.

No point in faffing about with it then is there. Might aswell cut to the chase.

think it's Corfu in winter. lol

Tis looking through the dash at drivers side too the heater matrix pipes. The bright white bit is corrosion where the pipe is going into the matrix.

Really?
This is what my leaky ones looked like from underneath. Can't see any resemblance :)

Even if the O rings were leaking, it wouldn't affect the amount of heat you get from the heater, just how often you need to top up the cooling system and how damp your carpets get..

i did think as much.

Pointless fiddling with it now though i guess, since leaking o-rings trumps the lot.

If i end up taking the new matrix route and do the Audi mod, am i correct in reading that the pipe from the matrix would be 5/8 and then need an adapter to step it up to 3/4 for the under bonnet connection?

And is this the correct relacement Audi core?

Why don't you message Marty and buy a kit?
Or even better, book a trip to Swindon. He has done loads of these now and I guarantee you it's worth while having someone who knows what they are doing on this job.

The Duchess has an Audi heater core, new radiator and new blend motors so if you want to compare heaters/nanocom readings we can do that sometime.

Definitely meet up. Could check my blend motors are calibrated and can stick the heating on in yours to compare.

Got an evening in mind?

It might be Sunday? Mrs Morat is planning something...

PM sent to Morat.

Out and about for about 50 minutes earlier. Heating was definitely hotter. Almost what i'd expect. Strange. Possible blockage as Orangebean said? Might get round to a flush tomorrow.

any idea what the brown glitter stuff on my filler cap might be? Can't see it in the water but was on the inside of the cap and the tank threads. Looks exactly like copper slip.

Bronze from the water pump pulley?

And that would no doubt mean a new water pump if it is?

K Seal or one of it's cousins would be my bet. Did I miss a picture somewhere BPSM?
