There has been some discussion on a meet up somewhere and on many different occasions and threads.

In June, well almost July there is the Billing Off Road Show, which is trying to break the world record for the number of land rovers in procession. As this is fairly central it should cater for most. Its too far for me to go for the day so I would bring the caravan and stay on site for the weekend.

Finally I think this is a good opportunity to register for this as a club. So who is actually up for going?

  2. Gilbertd
  3. Rutland Rover

Local for me and got to be worth a visit. If the LRO show and others I've been to are anything to go by, it'll be about time the P38 got a bit more representation.

Which day is the record attempt?

I couldn't see it on the website and it doesn't mention it on the ticket booking page. If we go we'll need to get a day ticket but wouldn't want to get the wrong day.

The record attempt is on the saturday. I am looking at getting a club entry and therefor some free tickets so hold off.

With regard to the record attempt there must be atleast one Land Rover badge on the vehicle. Just Range Rover is not enough ;-(

There should be at least two on a P38 that you can see... unless you've fitted some nasty grille and/or removed the rear one :)

OK so I got the paperwork through, We would get two free three day passes per vehicle up to 8 vehicles so effectively 16 tickets free. In addition to this we also get two free camping passes per club. The area we will be allotted is a maximum of 20m however we need to indicate on booking how many vehicles we intent to show.

There is no cost to exhibit at the show however we do need to provide public liability cover, I will look into this but it shouldn't be more then £5-£10 per vehicle. It should also be noted that to take part in the record attempt there is a £5 charge.

There are discounted rates on tickets and camping once the club is register and the initial free places have been taken.

Sounds like fun, although I need to check the events programme at work before I could commit.
I do have a huge tent though :)

Compensating for something, or just getting excited thinking about it?

lol, bad man. :)
I got a little tipsy last year and before I knew it I'd bought a 7.5m tent with 4 double bedrooms. I'm not quite sure why.
One of these https://www.blacks.co.uk/equipment/162660-eurohike-buckingham-elite-8-man-family-tent-green.html
but for £140 :)

I’m going to make some calls today re PLI, if we have to have individually it’s about £60 which is bloody ridiculous, surely the people who have arranged the event have PLI ?. A couple of quid each, from each entry would cover everyone,, and there events for a year, makes more sense to me !
I’m not tight, but I’m not spending fuel, entry, and then another £60 to go at 5 mph in a long line of LR’s, I can sit on the m25 for free, in a lot longer queue 🤬

I am researching club PLI which entitles all of us as members and for multiple shows. I have seen this can be as little as £30 and as much as £150 for small clubs.

I agree with you though if it’s £60 each sod it and we will go as general punters. I didn’t know about the PLI until the paperwork came through.

I'm sure there's enough folk that would want to go that we could chip in for PLI.

I wouldn't mind going to Billing - so depending on costs and if I can find out if I'm not busy I'd be quite interested :)

+1 On billing...

I don't know what work is like around that time yet, but assuming I'm free and the RR is still behaving, then I'm in.

OK first company to get back to me has quoted!!!!! £134.40 that provides £2m of cover, allows 12 shows per year and covers £2500 worth of club regalia.

I am sure there are better quotes out there so I will continue digging.

I had an email today to say that club spaces are running low.

The cheapest quote was the first one that I had at £134.40, that may have expired but should be similar. I will need the 100% from those that want to go before we can and ideally a contribution to the PLI. This would be required to be fully covered by people going to this event although will cover up to 12 events a year.

What are peoples thoughts.
