Argh,
I'm glad the wayback machine is working.
I had a page open in a tab for replacing the scuttle foam. It went the rr.net forum. Ffs

And just another thing. Just about every website now is "optimized" for mobile devices. No thought whatsoever for the many folk who use a PC still.
It looks shite and wastes so much screen space.

But your browser should automatically resize the screen anyway depending on the resolution of the device you are using. I've got an old netbook that runs in 800 x 600, my main laptop runs 1680 x 1050 and I've got another that runs 1366 x 768 and most websites all fill the screen because the browser resizes. I can even use this site from my phone, so I don't see what the problem is.

I don't think you know what I mean.
I resizes,yes, but it's the wasted space.
Imagine a mobile display running on a pc.
My pc is full HD. There's about 6 lines of topics. Should be about 20 on one screen.

Mine was the same initially. I'm using Firefox and I used the View, Zoom Out function to show more topics but then when I looked at a post the text was so small I could barely see it so had to go back to a sort of mid point. Admittedly, there's still acres of balnk space either side. It's still crap but just not quite so crap.

How does rrrpub look on it? I'm mostly looking at it on 1366x768 or 1600x1200 but I should try more sizes.

Yes, maybe there are no 'thumbs up' and 'smiley' etc emoticons in use as it is mainly adults using these sites Pierre3 ?

There aren't "thumbs up" and "smiley" emoticon graphics on rrpub because I broke that bit when I was installing it and can't figure out how to get them to download now.

RR.net once had a much friendlier atmosphere too of course..... although their latest layout just makes me laugh... !

Their latest layout is a nice responsive design that looks like it might use bootstrap.js as its layout framework. That's what flaskbb uses for its default theme (you can see it by going into your settings and setting the theme to "Aurora") and by extension the three rrpub themes Alveston Red, Oxford Blue and L4Y3R C4K3.

Just out of interest, why can't we click on an icon to agree with a post either here or on the RR.net forum.

How's your Python programming? That sounds like the sort of thing someone suitably skilled could write a little plugin for.

If you're going to do that, you can finish my image hosting plugin for me too.

A lot better than the other place. Still rather large though :)
Very easy to read though as there is no crap every other post

That's the one thing I haven't complained about as I don't see them. Adblocker for Firefox is a wonderful thing, blocks 10 or 11 ads per page......

If you wanted to improve anything, if its possible to put the link back to the sections at the bottom of the page as well as the top, it would be helpful (so you can go back to the section you've just read a post from for the next post etc)

Its looks fine in a window at 1920X1080 here. But fullscreen browser window gives large white space either side.

You shouldn't be seeing any ads at all with or without adblock, once you're logged in...

Not on here, over there...... Adblocker shows how many ads it has blocked on each page, none at all on here but at least 10 on every page on RR.net.

Just read the posts about "smile" and "like" icons - I can stand the criticism, I don't mind in the least, water off a ducks' back [tongue-in-cheek]. After all it is an open forum for all views.

I don't normally use those mentioned icons but on the MB forum they can be useful. Mind you, there are some rather "up-market" people on that forum, and you get banned for any, and I mean any, naughty words or pictures. Although, if you own a 1950 Mercedes Gullwing and win all their car show prizes they probably won't ban you !!!

There's a guy on here (now) who did a complete nut and bolt resoration on the only LHD Range Rover Linley ever made. There was only ever 6 Linley's made anyway so on the rarity stakes it has to be the most unique P38 on the planet. Unfortunately, the owner is an Irishman living in the US so has a sense of humour. That got him banned from RR.net......

I can understand someone being banned for using profane, and/or insulting language but I get fed up of self-appointed numpties who decide that a tongue-in-cheek post is exactly that, a joke or even a sarcastic comment. Surely that is banter between adults, and what constitutes free speech that you would commonly hear among like-minded people.

I posted a small cartoon picture of Hitler on another Mercedes forum and was immediately banned. The picture was in relation to war-time cars but the moderator didn't appear to have any sense of humour and banned me. Not that I was bothered.

I had a discussion on the MB owners forum about adult content, as in jokes or slightly risque cartoons or even pictures, and a couple of the busybodies there said that anything like that could be read by children, who could be offended. I'm afraid my comments were rather rude, not only remarking about the fact that children don't normally read through forums about specialist cars when they can't drive, and also that forums to do with DIY on vehicles would expect to receive earthy comments from home mechanics.

If children need to be protected from risque comments or pictures then they shouldn't be using the internet !! There's plenty of smut elsewhere, where you don't need a log-in password to access it.

Why would a forum ban someone for posting about rebuilding a different model of car anyway ? That's pretty pathetic. I think that anyone should be able to post anything they like once it has relevance to the subject, even if someone might find offence in some of the content. As far as I am concerned, if you don't like it then don't continue to read it. Like naughty stuff on the TV - if you don't like it then change the channel. I grew up in the days of the silly woman Mary Whitehouse who wanted everyone watch only the , Waltons on television.

God, I hated that woman, but unfortunately her ghost still seems fit and well and now living on the internet !

I was going to say something like that but there's a 12-year-old sitting Minecrafting away on the other side of the room who's a better off-roader than most of the grownups I've ever encountered, scary good at it.

and also that forums to do with DIY on vehicles would expect to receive earthy comments from home mechanics.

Hence the strapline of the site, decided upon in the original pub discussion to keep the rude-word-obsessed away.

Ha, well said about kids playing video games.

I could never get the hang of them, or generate any interest, but my son-in-law plays them all the time and he is nearly forty !!

GILBERTD, RRToad, the twat that he is, banned me for asking him why he replies to most members questions with the “its in the RAVE, please take the time to look it up there blah de fuckin blah ad nauseam blah blah take the time ethic etc”? I pointed out that his replies would take more time than answering the bloody question. I hadn’t taken into consideration the fact that he probably has this replay as a cut and paste and uses it willy nilly... but still!!!!
He then took the time to ban me and pointed out that I was banned for ever and a day......
Sad part is that he is ruining a very good website. I got a ton of informative info from the members there during the LINLEY rebuild and my second last post on the forum was me acknowledging that fact and thanking the members who helped me.
The LINLEY is finally painted and had a teflon coating applied recently. It’s parked in our garage in Connecticut and I plan on taking her to some LandRover events in the Northeast, USA over the next few years.
