Has anyone used Island 4x4 recently for international shipping?
I'm looking to purchase a bunch of spares for shipping to South-Africa, but I'm not getting any response from them (nothing in the last 2 weeks).
Cheers,
Justus

They are still there but due to the Covid 19 restrictions most of the staff are working from home. They have one guy working in their warehouse sending out items so it might be slower than usual.
I am probably sticking my nose in, but I was concerned about a fellow member (Kapilamuni, who I have known for a long time), on the other site having a less then satisfactory experience with Island4x4. He is also a member on here so may chip in in due course.
He received Britpart parts when he ordered genuine and a refurbished starter motor when it should have been new from Hella.
My experience with Island4x4 has been good so far I must say. They are my first port of call. I ordered stuff during the lockdown a couple of months ago and as Richard says it was just one guy. He said he takes a walk into the warehouse to see if they have the bits before accepting the order. Can't be fairer than that.
I hope they are are not sending out stuff to distant customers knowing it is too expensive to return. Maybe I am getting cynical in my old age.
I'm in Canada. Last October or November I ordered a set of air springs from them. Everything went well. A couple of months ago I tried to order from them, but they said due to lock down they weren't doing anything out of country. That's quite possibly why you aren't hearing from them.
If you guys mean island 4x4 based in Milton park Didcot ----- it does trade only ----- if that's not who you mean then sorry
No, Island 4x4 in Kent, https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/
I’ve known island4x4 since they were based in a large shed on the isle of sheppey, they were always helpful, wouldn’t send out a part that wasn’t upto spec, the starter motor in a blue box,, if you order air bags ( suspension) they can come in a blue box, but, there genuine Dunlop, as long as it’s OEM there shouldn’t be a problem, starter motors aren’t exactly rocket science, so I can’t see there being any problems with it, if there was island would change I don’t doubt for one second.
I’ve given up with LR parts suppliers now and go direct to Duckworths Land Rover in Market Rasen. They sponsor the L322 forum and offer discounts to members and free shipping on parts.
I ordered genuine height sensors, got them for the price Island 4x4 list them at before VAT, I ordered Thursday, dispatched to me Friday and here Saturday.
David.
Genuine parts I've found to be the same price or slightly dearer than main dealer from most places tgat list them. I've found it a good indicator of whether I should visit the dealer.
I used LRDirect when I lived in the states. Fast service via DHL.

Good to know!
Thanks for all the feedback guys, I think for now I'll just use a local supplier for the urgent bits and then maybe try Island 4x4 in future when the world has calmed down a bit.
I use both Island 4x4 and LRDirect for anything I want and there's been very little to choose between them up until the current situation. However, I placed an order with LRDirect on Monday afternoon, arrived today. There's usually nothing to choose on price, Island are slightly cheaper for some things and LRDirect on others. Main difference is that you really need to find the part number of whatever you need on the Island site (or on LRCat) and paste it into the LRDirect site otherwise you won't always find what you are looking for.
Maybe Island have un-furloughed some people?
I ordered two tailgate straps on Sunday and they arrived this morning (Tuesday).
Which was nice...
I've had a couple of items on order from them for a couple of months but still haven't heard anything from them. Hopefully they're up and running soon.
As Dave said, they advertised the st. motor as brand new Hella and what I got was refurbished one. To claim the refund I was asked to return the motor. With substantial courier prices from Colombo to UK , it was not financially viable to return the motor.
Second time it was my fault as I took it for granted. thought that OEM means original equipment manufacturer. But it was not so. It was a Britpart VC coupling marked OEM.
But I must agree that they are faster & cheaper compared to others. and ship internationally.
What I do now is to ask the right questions before ordering. For example, EAS PUMP marked Dunlop, when I queried whether they are manufactured in China, and they confirmed. May be Dunlop has a factory in China, but I didn't order. But the pump appear in ebay and with other sellers as Dunlop genuine. at a cheaper price. It could be the same pump that LR sells at a higher price. we won't know.
