Hiya Chaps

since owning the car she's had issues with LPG it cuts in "when it feels like it" and she runs superb on the stuff..

However the issue is the Majority of the time she doesn't want to switch over, the button on my dash just flashes like a MOFO..

It cut in a few days ago for an entire journey up the M5 I happened to look over at the LPG and it had switched over.

For the first time in ages!

I've already shorted the temp sensor on the Reducer and I've checked the coil/solenoid thing on the tank, the only one I haven't look at yet is the one of the reducer...

If i run her on gas I can shut her off to fill up and it'll switch right back over, however if I leave it for over a day it is a lottery whether it works or not!!

She does run well on the stuff, i'd argue better than on petrol!

Any ideas?

I've unplugged this from behind the dash too...

Whatever it is, doesn't stop it running on LPG...

No idea what that box is. Can you trace the wiring and see where it is connected into the car loom? That might give a clue of what it is supposed to do.

Button flashing means it is waiting for the correct conditions to switch over. Obvious first place would be the temperature sensor but by shorting out you seem to have discounted that. If it was a sticking solenoid, it would switch over but then immediately switch back as it would see insufficient gas pressure so if it isn't attempting to switch it isn't that. RPM pickup would be another suspect as it will only switch on when it reaches whatever revs it has been set to switch at. Could be an iffy connection there depending on the system and where it picks up the rpm signal from. What system is it and do you have a cable to connect to it and have a look at what it is doing? That would be ideal as you would be able to see what temperature it thinks it is at, what revs it thinks the engine is doing, what gas pressure it is seeing and so on.

Erm.

When it is faulting It switches over for around 3seconds then switches back, lack or clarification in OP Sorry!

I have no cable.

In fact I haven't a clue when the ECU is for the gas, i guess it is buried behind something!

Sticky solenoid then. If the valve plunger is gummed up it will open sometimes but not always. If you've got a manual shut off on the multivalve at the tank, you can close that, remove the solenoid coil and slacken the brass tube it sits over. You'll vent off a pipeful of gas but once vented you can unscrew it completely and clean the plunger. If you've done that at the tank already, chances are it's the front one. That would also tie in with it not working after it's been left so everything cools down and the heavy ends that are sticking it solidify and glue everything.

Sounds like the front one!

I've cleaned out the plunger thing in the tank..

Thanks!

Front one is the more likely one to get gunged up anyway.

The markings on your mystery box don't help much as to what it does, It looks like its something AC stag related, and clearly autogas related. But the rest of the text translates to Warranty Seal, I'd wonder if it might be connected to the diagnostic socket on the lpg system? Tracing the cable back to the other end of it would be a good idea. A Shot of the connector might be helpful too?

Can't see it being much else lpg related, Assuming you have a multipoint then you shouldn't need any sort of emulator for the petrol injectors.

If that is a diagnostic interface, theres a good chance your ecu is hidden somewhere back there, the cable tends to be quite short on that lead compared to the rest of the loom for the lpg system.
