Sorry I wasn't being clear, I didn't mean that British people don't offroad or like to insult people. I was trying to imply that it was a Gilbert thing, hence the "maybe its just you".
I happen to disagree, the P38 is quite the great off-road vehicle. Are there posers out there, sure, but the point is that mods like a winch, roof rack, big tires all serve a purpose for those that do go out in the bush and push the vehicle beyond its limits. Some of these things were talking about are factory Land Rover Accessories but i digress. How do you know the poser from the real? Does it really actually matter? Its not your cup of tea then keep your comments to yourself.

But I guess us Americans, Russians, Australians, New Zealanders and pretty much everyone else from around the world who doesn't consider driving down a gravel road offroading, don't know what we're doing.

I don't watch videos. The stuff I drive on is more kind of jaggy bits of mountain rather than mud trails.
If you mean the idiots that deliberately pick the worst route up something, I don't see the point in that. I drive offroad to get 500kg of tools and equipment and three or four people - including me - safely up a hill, get a day's work done, and get them all back down safely at the end of it.
Kultur- I'm not sure what you though I was dishing out, but I think I was being pretty polite and trying to be inclusive.
I've done plenty of off-roading thanks - in an SIII/ Defender/ Camel DIsco - I happen to prefer a Series/ Defender as a base for off road mods - I personally have no time for lifts/ snorkels on a P38, but winches and off-road tires no problemo. Poor Leolito - you completely hijacked his welcome thread

Gents, I've resurrected this to ask for help and advice.
As I am trying to pick up the pieces of the mess of my life in the last couple years (too many projects, too many engagements, too many complications), I took a hard look at my beloved P38 which is sitting since two years gathering dust.
I've took the commitment to move it to completion and start (finally!) using it, so I took it to my place where I can do something at it every day, even if few minutes, as opposed to the yard in my working place where I never seem to have time for it.
Now the problem is that ... most of the stuff I seem to have forgotten how to do it (urgh!).
So if you are patient with me will try to go step by step and concentrate on this topic most questions I hope you can help me with.... thanks in advance!!

First question: I've managed to refit the rear seats (duh!) but I noticed I cannot make them upright.
Something seems to be blocking the mechanism. I know it has to "lay down" properly, but is there any locking feature hidden anywhere?
I'll start putting up photos in some moment as well..
There's a hook at the base of the seat that goes over a latch in the floor as you tilt the backrest of the seat to the upright position. If there is anything stopping the seat base from going down fully, it doesn't latch.
Also if there's any crap in the mechanism, that's fallen in from the top.
Well, before a row starts and messes up the forum I can tell you that I have just been reviewing videos and articles on the one and only [make a trumpet sound here] - Honey Badger.
That isn't someone's name, it is a genuine really, bad-ass, don't give a f*** animal that lives in Africa and the Middle East. When you watch videos of it, it looks like Mike Tyson sashaying towards you, just oooozing with bad attitude !!! Class act.

Yes, it's a very common error that men have made in the past, thinking that Honey Badger is a stripper, and having arranged a meeting at night have been very, very seriuosly mauled 😅. It just shows, you should always check the reliability of any information before acting on it !!!

Not as many as in 80s though when it was the drivers ability not computer aided like now ---- I was bought up on NASCAR and drag racing --- and as for highly paid softies kicking a light weight plastic ball about 🙄🙄🙄
I am afraid that I have to agree with Symes. I used to go to Oulton Park with my Old Man back in the mid-sixties and I used to love all forms of motor racing. I was even at one of the last Formula 1 races at the Nurburing before it closed.
Now I only have a passing interest in Rallying, I occasionaly look up to see who has won the big rallies, but, since Michael Schumachers' accident, I have no interest in F1 anymore. When it was being shown on C4 I would always watch it, but now ..................................
