Anyone else got a second p38 for parts, just in case???

Got me a 4.6HSE in the same colour today spares or repairs. It’s almost good enough to put back on the road, but has all the normal issues!!!

The intention was to use it for parts for The Duchess!

Do all the body panels bolt on? It’s very straight whereas The Duchess is covered in scratches, holes from missing light guards/mud flaps etc etc......

Rear wings are part of the shell but the others can be swapped.

Maybe quicker to swap the shell!

Or just leave it be and scavenge the odd part now and then.

Rear wings are spot welded in place.

You can see some of the spot welds in the tailgate and rear door aperture, there are some under the window trim and where the rear bumper rubber strip sits.

It isn't too difficult to separate.

To be honest probably easier to do small holes & paint panel then separate whole quarter panel---- it's the lining it up again or easier to turn it into a pick up it all depends on your choice and skill set

The whole panel swap makes sense only when you have a significant dent which warrants kilos of filler which will become noticeable over time, degrading the worth of the paint job. Or - obviously - if you have rot beyond the normally acceptable.

I'd kill for a parts car. Still hunting, still not found!

Hi everyone, I somehow have accumulated 4 P38's. My original one I bought years ago, still going, and have not had too many problems with it. I would jump in it tomorrow and think nothing of driving it for a couple a thousand kilometers. Number 2 was a 1995 model that belonged to a friend. Bought it cheap, $1,000. AU. Then my friend had a 1997 P38 come into his workshop for repairs, but the engine was stuffed so I bought it for $350 AU. Then I bought a Maxi Drive rear end from a wrecker. When I arranged a time to pick it up the wrecker said bring a car trailer. He gave me the whole car. A 1998 P38,4.6. It has a good motor and gearbox. It too is really too good to wreck. I think I have enough of them, but there is a really nice dark blue 1999 4,6 with dark grey leather. And I haven't got a blue one. And with retirement due at the end of the year I might need another one to keep me out of the pub.

Don’t ever scrap a 4.6, the cranks alone are worth 200-300, becoming rarer to find these days

I would have thought there would be a few 4.6 engines kicking around due to liners and gas mileage ------ don't scrap V8 make into coffee table and sell on eBay ---- easy
