Changing the belt on my 02 today noticed that the A/C pulley is a bit noisy with a bit of play on it's bearings when giving it a spin. My 95 has a nice quiet one with no play, which is not used at the moment cos I've put a short belt on the car due to a firkin great rock hole in the condenser.
So, are they (the pulley and clutch assy) interchangeable? Seems too good to be true that I could do such a simple no-cost, no re-gas fix!

I doubt it, the GEMS has a Sanden TRS 105N AC compressor while the Thor has a Nippon Denso 10PA17 compressor so I wouldn't think they are interchangeable.

Thanks for that.
I can at least pick up a 30BG05S2G-2DS bearing for it for a lot cheaper than a regas!

You could give it a try, maybe the electro-magnetic clutches hardly differ when it comes to connection on the shaft. The different partnumbers apply for the complete assembly (to VX, from WA).

I've ordered a bearing now. May as well do the job properly and leave the buyer of my old one at least a partially working aircon setup :)
I'm thinking how churlish it would be of me to swap all the expensive bits I've replaced on the old one onto the new one. Props, battery etc. That would make me a bad person....
wouldn't it ? :)

Only if you show them the receipts for the new parts.....that WOULD be bad :P

Sometimes the world is bad, I once bought an engine 'overhauled' with a can of spraypaint...

Didn't come from a man in France did it? We bought a fully overhauled Volvo B20 engine that was like that. It looked pretty but had virtually no compression due to valves that didn't seat and bores with a lip at the top you could trip over.

This was a DAF 575 for my brother's houseboat. They come from factory nicely painted in blue metallic and so it was.
First oportunity to let it run was after install, everything was wrong, injectors, fuelpump, valves. It's when we did our first linerjob (in a bucket with a CO fire extinguisher), luckily parts were (are) cheap.
