I could also be interested in spare fusebox & BECM Power board for my P38's. They are both GEMS & ok at moment, but you never know !!

And yes, if it is not a DSP (Digital Signal Processing) amp, you only get the front speakers.
So, if you do find the black box up top behind the sound insulation behind the subwoofer box, post the part number.
I had the dead DSP amp issue,(twice!) and did the disco amp thing on my 02 then started collecting any
DSP amps I came across in wreckers yards. Now, I think I have 3 spares! Worth having for the great sound!

Three spares DSP amps! I would have liked Marty's DSP amp but the price here in the UK is just crazy. On eBay at present is one XQK100340 in the UK at £450 with 30 day warranty & another in Latvia at £400. That's far too much money to speculate on an amp that must be at least 23 years old & which could fail just just like all the others in just a few weeks of use.

I've gone the Disco 2 amp route (XQK100210). There are plenty of these used & working on eBay for £30-40. Happily I found a guy selling a brand new XQK100210 for £50. There is a chancer trying to sell brand new XQK100210s as a replacement for a failed XQK100340 but for £250!! As there is an annoying amount of disassembly required to replace the amp I plan on fitting this when I get round to replacing the speakers in the sub-woofer as the originals are turning to powder.

If anybody wants a brand new XQK100210 for £50 here is the link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154504582646

PM me an offer for them and the diff - I'm out of touch with what the prices are for things over here now!

I can dig a power board out from garage and bring it with me when you collect diff, no problem!

Dig a second one out for me too. Mine has been telling me that Fuse 20 is blown for years now. I understand there's resistor that goes open circuit and have been meaning to replace it for ever but having a replacement to put in in case it doesn't work (or I make it worse) would be handy.

Love this forum! So much knowledge !
Looks like I'll need martys dsp amp then.
Richard...what route are you taking to martys? You possibly might be passing within a reasonable distance of me(telford, shropshire) . 2 spare bedrooms here and parking if you want a stop over? Or could meet up at a services to save marty packing and posting stuff to me?

Have a look first and see if there is a DSP amp in there...
A DHSE model, I wouldn't have thought would have the DSP amp - as it was mostly on the Vogue spec with sat nav. But who knows - at the end of the production years, it seems LR made a mish mash of vehicles and specs with what they had lying around...

Another way to check is to pop the head unit out and see what wiring is in there... If it has DSP amp, then there will only be a Left/Right audio feed out (4 wires - from memory Red and Yellow twisted pairs - one solid colour and one with a black tracer)- if it's got door amps, then you'll have Front Left/Right, and Rear Left/Right - so 8 wires and Red/Yellow/Blue/Green twisted pairs - again one solid colour and one with a black tracer).

Don't want to sell you a DSP amp if you don't need one!

I'll have a look for the head unit and test a few bits over the weekend. I'll also look and see what speakers I have here, as I know I had some of the door woofers as one point and maybe a few of the mids aswell - but I can't remember what I kept and what I chucked out.

Marty

Wish I had popped the radio out first! No amp found anywhere but I did find a black box, no markings that has been tiger sealed in the bottom of the well..tracker maybe?
Popped out the radio and there is a toffee coloured plug with 8 wires which match your quoted colours so door amps I have!
Subwoofer has 2 speakers and a small box mounted on the forward top edge with 9 wires on a multiple.
Subwoofer has e26640 and xqa100010 numbers.
Small box has e26640 and 99-a4038-xxx and
1280.988/3894.
8 black/white wires and a thicker red wire.
Next move ? Oh..this small box connects to the main loom and also disappears into the subwoofer box.

The cables from this small box go to the sub woofer speakers.. what is this small box and what does it do?

OK , a search has revealed its the sub woofer amp.
So marty...looks like I don't need a dsp amp so that's available again.
Going to order 2 new sub woofer speakers and test it out, see what happens. If the 2nd row speakers still don't work but the sub woofer ones do, then ...I'll be back pestering the forum!

OK, I've got stuff to finish off tomorrow (Tuesday) so can't devote the whole day to workshop clearing. That leaves Wednesday and Thursday this week. Any others going to be there on either day in case there's heavier stuff to be done? Which day suits you better Marty?

I've sent Marty an email asking if he's available on Wednesday. I haven't had a reply but hopefully he is as that's the only good day for me this week.

It would be good to finally meet some others from the forum.

OK, I think, unless we hear otherwise, aim for Wednesday.

Aloha Marty
No problem on waiting for the zebra strips. it's coming into the warm and dry time here, so it should work fine.
You seem to have enough going on for the moment!
If you remember, let me know when you get back to NZ.
Or, if you prefer, I can ping you later........
Oh, I went out and counted the DSP amps.....I think they must be breeding in their dark cabinet.
I seem to have 4 tested good.........Probably should flog off a couple......
Cheers!

Wednesday is good for me too.

I might try to arrange scrap collection if the 98 for that day aswell, as we got a load of stuff jammed in it on Saturday when Nick came up, so it's full and ready to go but I need to call a couple of scrap places today and see when it can be collected as they'll need a hiab crane to lift it.

Jack said he would be aiming for about 10:30 on Wednesday, so I think that's probably a good time to aim for.

Hi Pete,

Yes, no problem. I think Nick is planning on coming up to collect a few more bits on Friday aswell. I have the diff there for you and also a couple of BECM power boards in the back of my RR and the fuse box from the '98 aswell.

Were there any other parts you were interested in?

Also, is the BECM in your vehicle High Line or Low Lone? Just so I can make sure I have the right type

Cheers,
Marty

Green P38 is definitely high-line. Not sure about Blue one, but the only thing lacking are electric memory seats. Everything else is in it.

Good to know - I'll have a look through my stash to make sure I've got a couple which will work for you.

After stripping the door cards and sub woofer I found the reasons for the poor sound system. Both rear sub speakers were dust but they repaired easily with a new suspension kit off ebay, they now work. All 4 mid range were dust too so fitted new ones and the 2 rear door bass speakers were seized solid. Fitted the 2 good bass speakers from the front doors into the rear doors and got 2 new bass speakers for the front doors.
Even fiddled with the CD player under the sub woofer and got that going again but I don't know how exactly! So every thing is working correctly again, very happy.

Marty, I sent a couple of PM's to you regarding the possibility of a good, complete sunroof cassette. Didn't hear from you so I assume they are all gone, but if you have a good one then I may still be interested.
