The only time I've seen anyone selling one of eBay, it's been either secondhand or more expensive than direct from Blackbox.

This the right one?

I've ordered a unit but they say all orders are processed manually and they'll send payment options by email, sound right? https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/

This https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com./shop/product/ncom07 is the one you need for the Thor. Yes, you'll get an email from them. Remember as we are no longer EU, you will be buying VAT free although may have to pay it when it arrives. There is one advantage of that when you buy an upgrade to include different vehicles (I've got GEMS, Thor and diesel options in mine), the price you pay is without VAT but as there is nothing physical to be sent by post, just an unlock code by email, there's no VAT to pay.

I know of one specialist that declares items he sends out as faulty items that have been repaired and are being returned, that way nobody pays the VAT.

Blackbox’s way of dealing seems a bit archaic, especially for a company that is computer savvy enough to figure out how to make a Nanocom. But it’s just a little slow, with emails back and forth. The unit is great, and I think Blackbox is very fair to deal with.

True.. a few years back now.
I don’t get any comms from them to say there is an update. I did buy it direct from them.

They will not contact you. You should have a login on their main page, which will give access to SW updates, and your license codes.

Latest version is 1.37 and has a windows installer. Simply run that & then plug in the Nanocom. It will guide you through the process, but do read the instructions just in case !!

Does anyone by chance know if they have fixed the issue with EAS where it determines there's a fault, but displays "unknown fault" or something similarly
Uninformative?
I mean, there's a fault, it knows this, but doesn't know what it is?
And, of course, you can clear it.....odd?
Been meaning to drop Collin a note........

I think the 'Unknown Fault' on Nanocom is the same as the 'Vehicle Has Moved' in EASUnlock, it always appears but doesn't mean anything.

Probably a glitch in the data stream, rather than the ECU reporting it.

In my recent experience, I have had hard faults that have illuminated all 4 lights on the switch and vehicle on bump stops and have found only the unknown fault message. Clearing it puts things back in order, so probably not a random report.
Next time I get a chance to use my main computer, I will ping BBS and ask.

CANNOT LOWER FRONT RIGHT
CANNOT LOWER FRONT LEFT
CANNOT LOWER REAR LEFT
CANNOT LOWER REAR RIGHT
FRONT RIGHT VALVE STUCK OPEN
FRONT LEFT VALVE STUCK OPEN
REAR RIGHT VALVE STUCK OPEN
REAR LEFT VALVE STUCK OPEN
EXHAUST VALVE STUCK OPEN
INLET VALVE STUCK OPEN
FRONT RIGHT VALVE STUCK CLOSED
FRONT LEFT VALVE STUCK CLOSED
REAR RIGHT VALVE STUCK CLOSED
REAR LEFT VALVE STUCK CLOSED
EXHAUST VALVE STUCK CLOSED
INLET VALVE STUCK CLOSED
ECU SELF DIAGNOSTIC LIMITATIONS

The ECU may seem to misdiagnose a problem. This is due to the limited number of inputs
on which to base decisions. Because of the similarity of symptoms, multiple faults may be
registered where only one is actually present. The following is a summary of alternative
interpretations of a registered fault message:

• Height sensor above or below has no alternatives.
• Engine speed has no alternatives.
• Road speed has no alternatives.
• Front valve stuck open has no alternatives.
• Rear valve stuck open has no alternatives.
• Inlet valve stuck open has no alternatives.
• Pressure switch on may be confused with inlet valve stuck closed or rear valve stuck
closed.
• Pressure switch stuck off may be confused with compressor failure.
• Compressor failure may be confused with inlet valve stuck closed, exhaust valve
stuck open.
• Front valve stuck closed may be confused with inlet valve stuck closed or exhaust
valve stuck closed
Rear valve stuck closed may be confused with inlet valve stuck closed or exhaust
valve stuck closed.
• Exhaust valve stuck closed may be confused with front valve stuck closed or rear
valve stuck closed.
