Hey everyone,
I come from the armpit of the dark side, in other words a moderator over at the other place. Gilbertd recommended I join over here so after a bit of finagling here I am. I have a temperamental 2011 Range Rover Sport L320 3.0 TDV6, as such it’s what I mostly know since I tinker with it. A while back I had a 2000 P38 for around 8 years which was very up and down. Until recently I was working full time at an independent LR shop the last few years working on various LR’s, so I do have dirty hands. Now I’m kind of freelancing with another LR shop mostly doing electrical work and other projects. I am originally from So Cal, moved to Bristol, UK in 2018 and then Poznan, Poland in 2020 during the Covid nonsense. Hoping to get out of here in the near future, but have to see how it goes. Anyway, hope I can bring something to the forum.

I’m also the one who asked Frankie the filter part numbers for my car, it got them wrong, twice. It’s gotten just about everything asked of it wrong. Except when I asked it for a sweet tea recipe, it was actually pretty good.

No idea what you did, but I assume my text to Gordon sorted something and you've finally got here.

Now all we need is an L320 forum topic and poach a few more users (the other one in Poland springs to mind).

I seem to recall having issues before trying to join here and gave up. Somebody finally squared it away.

An L320 forum would be lovely. I always say the L320 was the natural progression of the P38. Similar size, same wheel base, just updated. Even the same push button type setup for the tailgate. The facelift does it even more with putting in the analog clock, which means younger generations have no idea what time it is. But it’s like a bridge between the P38 and the L322. Not as feature packed and luxurious as an L322, but you know it’s in the same family.

We can definitely try to poach a few over. At least FF isn’t here… for now.

The L320 started as "baby Range Rover" but grew rather quickly in the designers/marketers hand and ended up being nearly as big.

Let's not discuss 'updated' in detail... ;-)

Range Rover of any version should have analog clock, at the very least something that looks like an analog clock. Just my opinion.

Hey, I think we can all agree not all updates are necessarily good. I mean look at FF. And yes, an analog clock is paramount to any Range Rover. The 05-09 L320’s not having analog clocks seriously feels out of whack.

Welcome. Totally agree with the analog clock stuff above. Arrival time is always "roughly XX mins" anyway !!

Welcome in from the cold and dark!
Even if you don't have a "proper" Rangie anymore, you are certainly a welcome
addition to the Pub!
I look forward to seeing the new forum subdivision.
My best mate in Oz has a 320 and will be happy to join in the fun.
As for So Cal? Born there,( bailed to Hawaii ASAP.)
It's a great place to be FROM!

I have to admit I've been pondering an L322.. not sure if it's a good idea or not. It'll be great to have a NoExpert here!

Gotta love when life interrupts. My iPhone gave up the ghost a couple weeks ago, using an ancient iPhone at the moment. I’m surprised the keyboard isn’t hieroglyphs. That coupled with my wife’s splendid idea of renovating the house has kept me off most forums. I’m also in the process of offering a kit for L320’s to activate the backseat map lights to work with the doors. It’s all plug and play, about 30 minutes to install, don’t really need any tools, keeping it very simple. I’ve installed one and shipped out two (soon to be three) kits. I have an all out kit waiting to be able to be mailed to the US (currently they are not sending goods via mail to the US due to the tariffs). As such I’ve been acquiring a few new tools and trying to come up with better/faster ways to build the kits. I have more parts coming to build several kits at which time I’ll be posting them on eBay to see if they get any traction. It’s one of those things that literally every L320 owner needs, they just don’t all know it.

Yeah its something i've also been considering. My P38 needs an engine rebuild, and i dont think i can face putting multiple thousands into a snotty old rover v8. So been looking at various swap options, but that potentially ends up even more expensive, and you end up quickly approaching the cost of a really nice L322.

But part of the charm of the P38 is that its into that "classic car" period now. An L322 is still firmly an older modern car. Very nice i'm sure, but i have a modern daily, the P38 is a fun thing. Sort of end up in decision paralysis and keep putting it off. I think probably not helped that the P38 i have is pretty tatty cosmetically. If it were a minter i think it'd be an easier decision.
