"If it leaks it's in here" the subtitle says, although it's rainwater and not oil.
As mentioned in a previous post I'm searching for water ingress, we are having a lot of rain these days and I think I managed the heater-airinlet to be dry now.
Had a clogged roofdrain and blew it free with compressed air, now a new spot shows up in the right headlining corner.

I wonder where it comes from, can it be the roofrail? What are your experiences in this and is it easy to take off and check?
Regards, Tony.

Not known it before but it could be the roof rail, the seam in the metal underneath it or, most likely if it's ever had a replacement windscreen, the screen seal itself.

Just to throw an alternative into the mix- sunroof drain pipe. If it's split or loose, water could be travelling down the outside of the pipe.
Had something similar on the '95, so when I had screen replaced, examined existing sealant very closely- no apparent damage, and peered over installers shoulder when new one went in to make sure sealed properly all round.
Still had a damp patch in a similar area to you after, but only when parked facing downhill.
It was only when I was greasing all the sunroof runners a while later that I noticed the front drain pipe was loose on that side. Blob of windscreen sealant later and no damp patch since.

Marks beat me to it, you said you put air line on sunroof drains, I'm wondering did it clear, or disconnect the pipe !

I have a similar damp problem but on left had side. No sunroof. On the to-do list if it ever stops raining or I manage to sort the garage enough to get inside. Its likely that it appeared after I had the first screen replacement as the guy who did the second one said he had to bung up a hole at top left where t'other folk had let something fall out.

Bit I don't get if its the screen seal is how the water manages to work backwards as the car is always parked 10 degrees or so nose down yet my headliner is wet back past the top edge of the door. Headliner is well saggy now so its all got to come out to be re-done. I can see a Maritrim kit and lots of swearing in my future! So whilst its out and the screen finishers off where should I be looking for ingress points and how best to fix them.

Thanks

Is there a simple step by step anywhere for clearing the roof drains? I have to park the Duchess with her nose facing up hill at the moment :(

Wait until the headlining is out, then you can get to the drain tubes. 2 birds, 1 stone.......

Thank you all for the replies guys, I've been out for the rest of the day and made me thinking, Mark and Chris you might hit the nail on the head, I think I have blown the tube off the roofgutter with my 10 bar of compressed air a few days ago when doing my round. Never had a wet spot there before...
Tomorrow I will lower that corner of the headliner and let you know. If so, I'll check the other side too.

Of course, headlinings were the most popular option for attention at Summer Camp this year (hopefully we'll do one) - you should come over!

Found nothing, all looks good. No loose or cracked tube, sprayed extensively over the roof and frontscreen with the gardenhose.

Only a bit of damp left from findings yesterday, this car has a will of it's own.

Not to advertise 'over there' too much, but have you come across this?

Aha! My first thought was the roofrail, after all it's been sitting there for more than 16 years. Then again, I did not have this before but there is a first time for everything.
This will be a job for spring I guess, at least when the weather improves.
As for 'advertising the other site' Sloth, I'm not so narrowminded to deny the wealth of information over there, after all it's the members that bring solutions and not the frogs.
Thanks for the link!

Thanks for the link Sloth. Looks a likely cause for mine too.

Well today was a dry day so I had a look under the top finisher, is seems someone had been here before me with a kitgun.

In the post Sloth pointed at was a hole aswell, now I see that there has to be a notch that holds the finisher-clip.
This could be the culprit too, also the kit that holds the screen looked like it could leak.

I cutted out all excessive kit with a Stanleyknife and filled the windowtop and cracks again with Sikaflex.
Let's hope it stays dry inside now (c'mon let it rain).

Had to wait for rain (didn't take long over here), problem solved it was the cracked seam.
