Yes, that duct is the feed into the HEVAC system from the blower fan (the housing of which is just on the LH side of your last pic).

That duct connects to the AC evaporator, as all the air fed into the HEVAC system goes through the AC system first, and then into the heater box where it's blended warm/cold, and directed to the correct vents.

So in short, yes, it is possible for AC water to get into the bottom end of that duct.

That's one of them yes - there will be another on the opposite side.

As Marty said, check they haven't collapsed on themselves or become pinched a bit too closed - that was the reason mine backed up. I had a bit of flow through them, but not enough.

I think we've cracked it. Took the side panel off and found the pipe. It's bent almost double on itself - no where close to as straight as the one in the image above.

I took the hose clip off, cut a slot in the side of the pipe and pushed it further up the tube on the heater box. Got it a little bit straighter.

Then ran the AC full blast with tje doors open for half an hour or so while I pottered around doing a few other bits and bobs. Nice big puddle under the car but nothing inside. Left the glovebox out for easier access/monitoring for the next couple of days.

I'll keep an eye on it and report back.

Bloody thing is leaking again...

Given the timing with the heavy rainfall last night and this morning, I think it must coming from somewhere outside the car - right?

I think it's time to take the dashboard and blast the entire windscreen area with a jet wash and try to see where it's getting in. Can pre-emptively replace the heater o-rings while I'm in there, empty out any remaining water in the vent pipes, reposition/replace the A/C drain pipes with better access and seal anything that looks like it has the potential to leak.

Not a job for a weekend though. I think I'll leave it for my upcoming paternity leave...

There's a Jag specialist in Peterborough that has rather run down XJR-S in their yard that looks like it could do with a loving home. Bit out of reach for me though.

My dad had one when I was a kid, I really liked it. What I'd really like is a Lynx Eventer bit they're a bit rare (and pricey!) :(

I've had this issue on my p38 2001 and discovered it is from the front windscreen washer fluid entering when I spritz the windscreen. That is why it seems like fresh water but isn't condensate from the AC. I haven't yet figured out where the leak is in the system, but am pretty confident that this water drips in exactly the spots the photos show, but only after I use the wash fluid pump.

That's an interesting one. All the washer pipework is on the underside of the bonnet. If it was getting in through the screw holes in the plenum, another common place for a water leak, it would be nearer the edges and would also come in when it rains.

True. A mate of mine loved his V12 XJS but eventually it broke his heart and he had to sell it.
Bearing in mind this is a guy who runs a fleet of vintage tractors, a boat, 4-5 modern "daily drivers" and didn't blink at paying someone to do a 2 year nut and bolt restoration on a Ford Dexter tractor worth about 50p, the commitment required to run an XJS must be immense!

Well, this statement didn't age well. It's been two years and I've not looked at it since.

In my defence (slightly) I don't think it's leaked in a long, long time. My foot well seems to be nice and dry these days. Not sure why it stopped.

It was a learning curve but I don't think I ever did that to the poor little guy.
