I know people have been caught out recently by Photobucket deciding that it's actually time to earn some money.
I don't know how competitive it is but I use hosting from easily.co.uk
I have the 5gb package which is way over the top for my needs but the 1Gb thing is £25 a year which should be OK for quite a few How-Tos :)

what you don't get is any kind of web interface or app to integrate with uploads from your phone, but if you can handle FTP then it's a piece of piss to upload stuff and link to it.
Cheers!

imgur. Like photobucket but free. Works well for forum. On the image links, select the one that ends in .jpg then it'll show up in a forum post.

I've got a couple of domain names through easily but didn't go for their web hosting as I hadn't a need for it. I do have a couple of old computers and a broadband connection with a fixed IP address though so I'm sure it would be possible to host them myself if I can work out how to do it. Currently waiting for imgur to register me but it's taking a very long time. I suspect their servers are about to go into overload with all the new, ex-Photobucket, users registering.

I use imgsafe.org They host jpg, gif and png up to 20MB each for free. Last month they were offline a couple of times for a few hours so decided to go for img shack which is $ 28 a year. So I've got two now ha ha.
Thinking about a NAS though, just figuring out how to protect the lot.

Unashamedly stolen from another forum (thanks classicswede) but if you are using Firefox as your browser, to get around the photosuckit blackmail you can use this add on and be able to view the blocked images

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... bucket-fix

Not an alternative to hosting the pictures somewhere else but it will let you look at pictures on older threads that are no longer able to be viewed.

Sadly, the link you posted https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/firefo doesnt work :(

If you use google photos to store your images you can get the 'share' link for a pic and pop it in this website ( Generate embed code for any picture on Google Photos ) and it gives you a link that works in forums.
