So which are orange? Ive seen yellow and black britpart which are rumoured to be ashtrays on motorbikes.

I found the RimmerBros blue ones for £150

Them that OB posted about are a bit on the dear side. I was gonna buy a full kit and do the lot to be on the safe side.

There’s a set on eBay (130806983849) I’m sure OB will confirm if there what your looking for. Of course now you’ve got the job of removing what the idiot who stuffed it up fitted, the old saying, if you want a job done right, do it yourself..

These http://www.polybush.co.uk/shop/land-rover/range-rover-p38a but not cheap either.

Those too are a little more on the expensive side than i was hoping. My car budget and patience have somewhat dwindled due to arseholes causing me to do jobs twice. I had a similar carry on with a diff pinion which i ended up doing myself and successfully fixing.

I've had a think about getting the old bushes out in the absence of a press. I reckon a hole saw to cut out the centre first, and then a cold chisel to knock the rest of it out. Unless anyone has a better idea?

Can this all be done with the wheels on the ground?

You can take both radius arms off and leave the axle with the wheels on the ground and the shocks stopping it from rolling away but it's probably better to take one off at at time. Not on radius arm bushes but on similar metal/rubber/metal bushes on other vehicles I've done it the anti-social way of burning the rubber out (preferably downwind of your neighbours) then threading a hacksaw blade through the remaining hole and slitting the outer steel so it can be pushed out. In fact if you put two slits in it, the two bits will drop out.

On the plus side, at least you won't have a problem with rusted bolts. On the minus side, the nylocs will be stuffed so a bit of Loctite on the threads when re-assembling will do the trick.

On a whim and cos they're only a tenner, i ordered a couple of droplinks. Just changed them now and the old ones are completely shagged. Just flopping about. Dont suppose this would have helped matters.

New bushes Tuesday. Garage on the corner swears they can do it and not cock it up so i got replacement standard bushes. Couldnt come to terms with £240 for polys.

Does the garage on the corner know about the standard bushes being oversize for the hole so a tapered compressing tool is needed to get them in properly?

Just ordered up all the bushes and stuff for my front end. Gonna get me another set of front suspension arms and do the bush fit at my leisure so the on car job becomes a straight swop. I find it hard to believe that the dimensions of the compressing taper aren't out on the internet. Heaps of "how I bodged it" and "poly bushes are easier" stuff tho'. Concluded a log time ago that when there is a special tool there is usually good reason for it so the job goes much better if you have said tool or a reasonable facsimile thereof. (Probably after taking a couple or 3 hours to put a Velocette clutch together the Haynes way. Factory way takes about 5 minutes and a minute to adjust!)

So I guess I gotta go figure out the compressing taper from first principles. Shouldn't be hard. Compressing preloads the rubber in compression which greatly improves performance under roll loads so an ordinary same size bush won't do as well.

yeah i told them that they're bigger. I shall reiterate this on Tuesday and also since it's literally 5 doors down on the corner, i may just turn up to supervise and sign off the installation. lol.

New bushes are in. Top job from garage on the corner.

Check this out though. These are the bushes that were removed. The damage wasn't done by removing them. In the second picture, you can see that i was able to slide the inner out. Ripped to bits. Absolute cowboy that put them in.

Has it made a difference?

lol. Be a shame if it didn't.

Early days yet as i've only been on a short trip to pick the Mrs up. But i think so. Had a juddering at 1000rpm > when slowing down which i was beginning to think was under delivery of fuel. Looks like that's fixed now.

Steering wheel needs a nudge back to centre now though which will have to wait til Friday as i'm currently rebuilding a piano.

Garage man didn't do Panhard Rod tho as the bolt is stuck and then he ran out of time. I said i'd have a look myself with the blow torch. Worst case is i'll cut it off. Ebay says £12 for a new one though which is a bit steep.

I don’t think the bolt is stuck, there just bloody tight, that gorilla that worked at
L R done them up. I was swinging on a long bar to get mine undone..

As Chris says, they are 'kin tight (200Nm). Took my big windy gun set to kill to undo mine. You'll also need a 23mm 12 point socket. Hopefully the stuck end won't be the one that is effectively "blind" as that would be hard to get heat onto.

I do have a couple of used bolts which I could post to you.

Panhard bushes done. Right nightmare getting the old bushes out. Poly bushes went in no bother with a G-clamp and a couple of sockets.

Been told about 3 months ago by garage that my rear bushes were fine. Guess what!!!!!!

Onward to ebay for more bushes.

Rear bushes on front radius arms (where they go into chassis) or rear radius arm bushes BPSM?
If it's the rear bushes on the front arms, you can use OEM for those rather than poly as there's nothing to press them into. Just slide one onto the big stud on the back of the arm before refitting the arm, locate the stud in its mount in the chassis, put other bush on with flanged washer and, making sure the radius arm is straight, use the nut to pull them in. Use lots of rubber lube to make sure they fit into chassis mount correctly.

sadly it's not the chassis ones on the front.

It's the rear trailing arms. Have cracks in them and what look to be holes.

Rear panhard doesn't look up to much neither. A quick poke with a screwdriver moves it.

Might aswell do it all.

Rear panhard complete with Lemforder bushes can be bought almost as cheaply as bushes alone:

ANR3285 is part number for the rad arm bush- only 1 per arm :)

Dunno :)
I haven't bought it yet as I only decided yesterday to do the rear end on mine. Be worth asking the question from the supplier though.
