Hi Richard, I’m thinking of getting a new key and fob now soon from land rover. Could the situation arise where I buy one and for some reason it doesn’t work and I’ve wasted my money. Thinking possible bcem change or door locks or whatever. Just want to be sure before I buy a key for £250 or thereabouts. Ps the key is still working fine up to press after what Brian did. Thanks.
Hi again. OK I appreciate this isn’t a long term fix and the latches and or the fob need sorting. Will just bask in the glory of being able to enter and start it easily for a day or two and then create my next plan.
Hi all, Brian has very kindly been round and at long last I now have a car that I can open and start without messing about with the EKA every time. Top Man Brian! I’ve tried it four times now and seems to work fine, fingers crossed. Thanks to everyone who helped in this, and especially the detailed way to do it. Frank.
Hi Brian, that would be great will pm you thanks.
Hi everyone. My car is the 2.5 diesel, is this still GEMS.? So if the EKA is entered with the nanocom could I use the key to unlock and start it without using the EKA code. That would suit me fine if so.. Thanks all for showing interest in this, Ime just gonna go and fit the new receiver now it’s stopped pouring down.
Hi, I’ve tried the secondhand receiver bought from eBay and still no luck with it communicating with the bcem. Could I try the known good one or any other suggestions? Thanks, Frank.
Thanks for the offer of that. I bought another receiver from eBay which I will swap over tomorrow and then test again when it’s dark. If that doesn’t work either it may be worth trying yours which is known good. Thanks for your help so far, will get back to you.
Hi again, I’ve just tested the car in the dark as you said and the becm went to sleep after two minutes. When I pressed either of the fob buttons there was no response from the becm, it stayed off.
Thanks, will test that tonight, have sent you the vin.
Hi again, just been out to do it and it says engine disabled when I try to crank it.
Hi, I’ve had a look and the car was first registered on 02 02 1999 but it’s on an S reg. I’ve checked that the blue wire is attached and I’ve replaced the batteries in the fob. It’s looking quite good now. I’ve giving it a good clean, I’ve machine polished the whole car, replaced the 16 inch wheels for hurricanes, repainted the grille and bumpers. It’s dark blue with cream interior, I am getting used to it but still just taking it out for short trips of a few miles as I don’t want to get stuck anywhere.
My head is a complete shed! Lol...
Yes mine is an S reg, still stuck with this problem.
Ok, thanks for explaining about the door locks. Have tried syncing the fob again and unfortunately still won’t work.
Hi again, re having to use the eka code all the time, could the problem be that the central locking doesn’t open all the doors when opened on the key. I think the doors do open but the buttons don’t jump up , if that makes any sense. I had a look at the receiver and the small wire was unplugged. Plugged that in and no difference. Have tried another one that I bought off eBay and that hasn’t sorted it either. Thanks, Frank.
Lol! Thanks for the edit Morat.
Ok no problem, speak to you after Christmas, have a good one, thanks.
Hi Morat, Ime mobile again enough to drive now, if the offer offer taking a look at my p38 is still open.
The situation at the mo is the key fob has new batteries and lights up but doesn't work with the car. I use the EKA in the door lock but this doesn't work ever time, Ime still trying to work out what Ime doing wrong. Do you think the nanocom would eradicate the need for the EKA and therefore would make the car usable?
Ime in Silsden near Skipton but would be happy to meet somewhere when you are free.
Thanks, Frank. 07946 846524.
Hi Morat, thanks very much for your offer. I would love to take you up on this but at the moment Ime unable to walk or drive. Ime a floor layer and this morning was doing a job and something has gone in my knee, Ime in a lot of pain right now. Tha customer had to drive me home and I left my van at the customers house. Once Ime able to drive I would love you to take a look at it. Thank you very much.
Frank.
Ide be happy if I could get the immobiliser turned off as I darednt use the car for anything more than a quick trip round the block as I don't trust turning it off away from home.
