I haven’t done anything to my L320 today, not even opened a door. However, a few weeks ago I decided to rewire the backseat map lights and add some lights in the tailgate. Back in December 2021 when I bought the car I immediately wired up the backseat map lights to work with the doors (they don’t come on normally). It wasn’t my finest work and I wanted to redo it, but hadn’t yet. So I started acquiring parts, new diodes, factory style connectors, crimps, factory colored wire, lights, the works. Finally got it all together and took a day to get it done. From outside it just looks like it should. Behind the scenes it’s got a fresh new wiring job with a pigtail that can be removed to return it to stock. Diodes have been incorporated into the light housings with a third pin added for the door open circuit to turn them on. The new lights in the tailgate point down when the tailgate is open and light the cargo area very well, especially compared to how it came originally. Overall I’m really happy with the results.

Hey, I think we can all agree not all updates are necessarily good. I mean look at FF. And yes, an analog clock is paramount to any Range Rover. The 05-09 L320’s not having analog clocks seriously feels out of whack.

I asked FF to give me the part numbers for a Mahle oil filter, Mahle CareMetix cabin filter and Hengst air intake filter. I told it exactly what car and engine, even the power output. Got every filter wrong. I posted the correct part numbers. Later I asked again, maybe it learned, the info is right there. I got a completely different set of part numbers from the original wrong list of part numbers that were still wrong. Then I asked for the Mahle/Behr oil cooler part number. FF gave me an LR reference part number for the TCCM and a part number that doesn’t even exist in Mable’s catalog. I also asked it which side of the car, while sitting in the driver’s seat, the primary turbo is on an L405 4.4 SDV8. He said the driver’s side. Not left or right. So guess LR flips the turbos around if it’s LHD or RHD. Another member asked it why the backseat map lights didn’t come on when he opened the doors in his L320. FF sent him on a wild goose chase when in reality they were not made to work when you open the doors. With Admin just ignoring members concerns and condescending attitude towards it all I think the old hands will start looking elsewhere cause they definitely showed what they think of the forum community et al.

I seem to recall having issues before trying to join here and gave up. Somebody finally squared it away.

An L320 forum would be lovely. I always say the L320 was the natural progression of the P38. Similar size, same wheel base, just updated. Even the same push button type setup for the tailgate. The facelift does it even more with putting in the analog clock, which means younger generations have no idea what time it is. But it’s like a bridge between the P38 and the L322. Not as feature packed and luxurious as an L322, but you know it’s in the same family.

We can definitely try to poach a few over. At least FF isn’t here… for now.

Admin’s attitude towards FF is just unreal. It’s literally like this: Here’s this AI feature that’s half baked, nobody wants, but we’re pushing it through anyway. Any and all comments regarding it will just be ignored cause look how I can make it summarize threads so I don’t have to read the actual posts and make it easier to ignore the comments. Even when the inaccuracy of its answers are shown, just ignore it cause it’s getting people to post and boost numbers which is all we really want. It’s not about the content, it’s about the numbers. So here it is, don’t complain cause it won’t matter and we’re going to axe your top moderator/admin cause he’s being vocal about not wanting AI on the forum. Yup, that’s pretty much it.

Hey everyone,
I come from the armpit of the dark side, in other words a moderator over at the other place. Gilbertd recommended I join over here so after a bit of finagling here I am. I have a temperamental 2011 Range Rover Sport L320 3.0 TDV6, as such it’s what I mostly know since I tinker with it. A while back I had a 2000 P38 for around 8 years which was very up and down. Until recently I was working full time at an independent LR shop the last few years working on various LR’s, so I do have dirty hands. Now I’m kind of freelancing with another LR shop mostly doing electrical work and other projects. I am originally from So Cal, moved to Bristol, UK in 2018 and then Poznan, Poland in 2020 during the Covid nonsense. Hoping to get out of here in the near future, but have to see how it goes. Anyway, hope I can bring something to the forum.

I’m also the one who asked Frankie the filter part numbers for my car, it got them wrong, twice. It’s gotten just about everything asked of it wrong. Except when I asked it for a sweet tea recipe, it was actually pretty good.
