Not too doom and gloom I did smear some on paper and it seemed "brown" rather than Black..

In two minds whether to keep the unit in, change the oil etc or rebuild the donor I have and throw that in?

She did shift ok, however on the return journey around 1 1/2 years ago now whe did tend to hold in high gear until the engine really struggled.indicative of old fluid i suppose.

Looks nice a rather nice Cahors, cheers! 😀

Surely change the fluid and see how it goes? Unless you really like messing with auto boxes.

I'd just change the oil and see as Morat says. If you're bored later, get the donor rebuilt and have it as a spare perhaps.

Same - just change the fluid - doesn't look much worse than mine when I changed it - which was dark brown and had a burnt smell. Did you change the fluid since you got the car? ie that's what it look looks like after less than 1 1/2 years ? or this was the first change? At least it didn't have any bits of metal in (hopefully)

Erm, I just noticed - Are you planning to wash those glasses and drink out of them after? Remind me to bring my own glassware should I ever be invited round to yours :o)
