This is a project on its own, and not a small one. Might got very off topic in here ... many pro and many cons to that.
If you have the engine and it is running nice and fine and you crave only the throaty V8 sound go for it, but for me the 2.7TT is also a sensible proposition. Equal power, fantastic run-up if you tune it properly, fairly robust, and all in all equally expensive to run ... you'd miss the V8 roar but instead you get the whine/hiss of the turbos ... equally deadly :-)

I have the 4.2 already. Been around B5's a long time and the 2.7 just doesnt press my buttons. Everything in it just costs a fortune. My brother had one for a few years. I broke a C5 A6 for its engine so i've got everything needed for the swap, its pretty much a weekend bolt-in swap at this point. Even the wiring harness pretty much just plugs in. The only thing i need to buy for it is service stuff like belts/waterpump/thermostat and filters.

Yeh, its a fair point. But i guess the other side is, If i sort the engine and mechanicals, then worst case, when i come to actually sorting the body, the option is there to buy one with a tidy body and rooted engine/mechanicals and swap things over. Wether that means an actual body swap, or putting the good engine/axles etc into the other car.

as for 2, yeah i'll certainly keep an eye on it, maybe i can trade in the TT instead. Not sure how realistic buying a brand new EV is though. Would need to see the numbers. I quite fancy the e-niro, but its a bit too expensive and impossible to actually buy.

For only one key, go to your local Timsons or similar key cutting place and get a blade cut. The blank is a BMW one which they can order in if they don't have one in stock. If your fob isn't currently working then using that will be no different. Once the fob is working, should you ever lose the key you'll have a spare to get into the car and enter the EKA with.

Don't anyone mention Cummins. Dina works for them in the spares ordering department and has been working from home since the middle of March. Our dining room has become a Cummins office.....

I don't know what year in question the Range Rover is but if it's an earlier one, a possible engine conversion option would be a Jaguar AJ16 6 cylinder. They're bomb proof, run Lucas SAGEM engine management and were most commonly bolted to 4HP-22 or 4HP-24 automatics. The N/A 4.0 has 240 HP, and the Supercharged 6 from the XJR ahas 320ish. The only question is whether it will squeeze into the engine bay.

I bought my 2001 Vogue for peanuts knowing it was a sack of shit "to put it mildly" at the time i needed some life back in my soul and the car did the trick..

On the way home from the sellers house the rear NS brake pad flew out and the piston almost popped out the caliper, it was weeping fluid down the tyre and the pedal was getting softer and softer but she made it

Tyres went flat and the BECM shit the bed the interior filled with water and the headliner fell down.

The interior was "and still is" ruined, the exterior needs a respray and the axles need a rebuild..

If I was to guess i'd need to sink a few grand into it to make it a 100% and i will..

Why?

It is simple, money is just that you're a long time dead and you don't take it with you, so i spend it accordingly, you only get one life eh?

Fook what the car is worth, if you like and enjoy the car put some money into it..

Sure you could unload your current P38 and buy an L322 however the early 4.4's aren't good motors with Engine gearbox and axle issues, the M62 is a Nail of a motor and i would't spit on one..

Do i love mine even though it has cost me near a Grand in the past 4 months?

Hell yeah i do..

Looking at it on the drive is good enough for me..

I'd keep it..

Not many 1994 P38s hanging around..

The 6 pot 2.5 BMW unit only just fits in there, i'd doubt the AJ engine would..

Aragorn, for what it’s worth, I can safely stand behind the statement that no one has ever take delivery of a P38 in worse condition than I did some 4 years ago.
When a 35 year transport driver tells you that the vehicle he dropped off to me was the worst thing he has had on his transporter that speaks volumes.
I put blood sweat down tears into restoring it and the biggest enjoyment was the challenge....
Would I do it again? Would I fuck!!!!!
But having done it I have great pride.
So my answer to you is, do it if you want your balls busted, bloody knuckles, too much time on your hands and an ability to walk away from it every now and again cursing only to return aka Ernest Shackleton, and say “I’ll not be beaten by you’......
Otherwise donate it as a ships mooring point in local bay.

From all this I think the P38 comes in 2 versions ----- either well cared for or fubar'd I've got 1 of each ----- we definitely are beyond help ---- I'm now going to lay down and relax now ps it doesn't matter what engine gearbox or other parts you use a P38 is a P38 at the end of the day 😊😊
