Must be on Bosch. My '01 Disco has it, IIRC it's a vacuum line for the brakes. That doesn't sound right for a P38 though, with the ABS pump giving the muscle.

UK Spec Disco 2 here, and Rave confirms its for the brake servo there on the Disco (I could have walked out to it to check, but was easier to check Rave). Mine has it, I know that from losing the red clip previously and having issues locating a replacement as its not on the parts list.
The new engine we've just fitted from V8 Developments has a high torque cam, bigger valves and gas flowed heads.
We're still in the running in period and I'm being religious with it so I've not done anything daft with it yet so I can't comment for sure... However, Rob at V8 Dev said when pulling away I can use full throttle but not to let it go over 4k. Apparently using full throttle helps to bed the rings in. On the motorway if I drop to 65, pull it into 3rd manually and give it a boot full it certainly feels a LOT more sprightly then the other identical car we've got.
Once it's done it's running in and we've got our 16ft trailer behind it will be the test :)

Brian did you find a part number? Mine broke when I removed the plenum. It's on with RTV for now.
When I rebuild tractor engines we get them on a PTO dyno and load them down to seat the rings..
I see no reason why not to do the same with a V8, work on an M62 I did and she pulls hard..

Afraid not. I was lucky around a month later found it stuck on top of the chassis rail thanks to the muck all over it from various oil leaks. How it managed to stay there that long is beyond me. Mine was wedged in with ptfe tape in the meantime

That vacuum line is for the brake servo as someone else mentioned.
There is also the 3rd mini vacuum line is for Secondary Air Injection (SAI) system for emission control on the Bosch engine. From what I've read, LR installed it on P38s and Disco 2s that were sold in California and I think in Japan.
Be lucky that SAI is not on Land Rovers over here in the UK. It is a PAIN to troubleshoot with the extra vacuum tubing, and extra electrics.

Look up Saab nipple bushing 9mm ID #55557389 or #9179318. I had to replace mine a month ago. The Saab part is way cheaper than LR and it has the same dimensions. I punched it out from inside of the manifold with a 3/8” drive long extension and a 3/8” to 1/4” adapter at the tip.
Makes sense for it to be a vacuum take off for the brake servo which would explain why the P38 doesn't have anything connected as it doesn't need one. SAI was fitted to all NAS spec cars, not just California, one of the many subtle differences as well as the steering wheel being fitted in the wrong place.
I think SAI is only on the later D2's. My 2001 (Canadian NAS) doesn't have it and I don't think it ever did.

Much obliged, have made a note of that for future use as its bound to go missing again. Looks like I've cured one oil leak (valley gasket) to discover another one now (rear crankshaft seal).

I'm half seriously looking for a tidy John Deere 3650 just now. Have a notion for one on wide tyres and a wide step with that 6 pot turbo. Total overkill for what we need but it would be fun!

400bhp on Surrey Rolling Road. Super reliable, loads of track days, sprints and drag days, (11.83 seconds).
Of course this all comes at a price but to keep costs sensible, I built the engine, ( and everything else).

What transmission did you have behind it?
T5 box which is strong enough for all that torque if not abused too much.
Saying that. I’ve done many drag days and have run and 11.83 which is pretty good for the old RV8.
