Drove her 68mi to Borth for a break..

Half way home the EAS plummets to the bumpstops and the compressor is scalding hot, so i'm assuming it was feeding a leak..

Being that she sits fine without dropping would the next port of call be the Valve-block seals?

From what I understand it'll go on the wobbly if the compressor overheats too many times?

Bastard thing had to drive home 30mi on the bumpstops.

Yes, lots of possibilities there as far as causes are concerned; "Sits fine without dropping" though, you mean the problem only happens when you are moving ? (Which could mean the leak is on a corner somewhere ?) Soapy water spray time !
Yes, if the compressor gets too hot the thermal fuse within will trip....

That looks more like you forced the sleeve on when you replaced the seal. You have to put it on at an angle, push it right down then twist it. Twist it too soon and it nips the seal.

Hmm, that's a bit of a bugger. Now you've taken it apart I suspect you'll have difficulty claiming on the warranty. But without taking apart you wouldn't know it had failed......

A set of these might be an idea if you otherwise risk being on the bump stops, would also allow you to isolate areas to locate leaks etc.

I've a set of those in the boot. Never had to use them but with them and an electric tyre pump I've always got a get me home method should I need it.

Ooh, blue ferrule connectors, they WILL leak, they always do. I use these https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/pneumatic-straight-tube-to-tube-adaptors/0812106/ and https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/pneumatic-tee-tube-to-tube-adaptors/0812083/ rated at 20 bar, so twice the maximum pressure you'll get in the EAS and never had one leak yet. I'll admit I'm not a great fan of connecting it all up and leaving it there as the additional joints increase the chances of a leak. Hence why I keep the valves in the boot so I can fit them if and when needed.

I had to extend one of my EAS pipes as it had been trimmed to much by someone before I bought the car. I got several or those blue ferrule connectors from a local airline supplies company and they've been spot on.

When the VSE was getting the new engine I bought 4 of them and threaded some schrader valves onto them and they were fine too. I keep an eye on them and regularly leave my car in off road height for a couple of days to check for leaks and all has been good so far.

I guess you use what you can get quickly when you need them.

Yeah the cheap ones are crapola, but these are decent branded ones. The rest of the joints are black Legris like in your link. The only place I had a leak was out of the gauge! It was a brand new SMC one. Swapped for the current one off an old air compressor and it's been spot on since.

I have a set of valves in the centre cubby. Like Richard, I haven't needed them yet.
But if I had bought them before the compressor ate itself a couple of years ago it would have saved Marty a late-night trip to rescue me!
Hindsight etc.
I think they're good cheap insurance and I'd recommend them to everyone for peace of mind, even if you have a bumpy ride to the nearest airline.
